    Chasing Status: What's your motivation?

Having just lost WP after 3 years with QF and now a Gold it is big miss for me. Being able to walk past the line waiting to board was good (although Gold can do that now) The 1st lounge in Melbourne was great The business lounges are great at Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra but being Qld based...

    Just hit WP...

Congrats - been there 3 years but will lose it next year :( Have enjoyed the lounges in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra but Brisbane is a dive and that is the one lounge I am in the most. For me three features: 1. Getting off a flight and heading back to the lounge to have a feed before heading...

    Accident on a plane

Needed a trip to keep WP and took my wife along as we headed to Auckland and experience the Qantas 1st lounge in Mel. An hour into a 5 night romantic status credit run the hostie spills some hot water over her. Just wondering if anyone has a similar experience as the Qantas attitude to it all...

    Visit to First Lounge Melbourne

Doing a "keep my status" run next week to Auckland and as a WP I'm taking Mrs davlaw to the first lounge. This will be our first ever visit to it. So ... my question is any do's or don'ts? We have a late flight out and intend to be in the lounge for 6-7 hours.

    Hotels: a general critique

Don't know how many hotels I have stayed at where they either don't deliver the paper (even though they say they will) even after you complain you never got one! I have stayed at some places several times and for 3 or 4 days at a time and they still can't get your paper to you. My other...

Where in the World should I propose?!

Well I proposed to Mrs davlaw while checking a rain gauge during a flood standing in 2 foot of water. I think you could do it better. If you do the 1st lounge or 1st on the A380 it does set the bar pretty high and there could be expectations that things will get better. Valentines day is a...

I met my wife in the Qantas Club

Did n't get married in the QP. We got married in a church as Mrs davlaw wanted to get married in the Chapel where she went to school. Getting married in the QP would have met a few less guests but back then you use to get sent to you vistors passes. Around that time between us we would have...

I met my wife in the Qantas Club

Just curious as I met my wife in the QP almost 14 years ago. There were not many seats around and I noticed she was reading a book on a topic that I had interest in. I asked if I could sit across from her and then engaged her in conversation - we swapped emails - four emails a day (we lived 5...

Should I go for Platinum again with Qantas?

The only thing I would add having spent the last few years at Gold trying to get WP and now have it, is if you dont get WP this year and let it lapse then you need an extra 200 SC's to get there again (1200 to renew 1400 to get). So .... if your able my thinking is to grab and see what happens...

    Status run for Platinum

Usually I only get the double credit email but Mrs davlaw got it as well so it was easier to convince her to fly to Auckland for the weekend. She has gone from silver to Gold and I have got WP for the first time. She now wants to fly with me whenever I am going through SDY or MEL as she (and I)...

    Qantas Club..What to Expect?

If a flight is cancelled there is probably no better place to be (apart from not being there) as you get good assistance from staff. On a slightly different note I met my wife in the QP in 1999 - thought she looked lonely and went and chatted to her swapped email addresses and married her 14...

How do you pack? My community service guide for October!

I live in regional Qld so I have to abide by the 4kg max inside and 7kg max as premium hand luggage QLink rules before I can get onto the bigtime QF. I carry a netbook in a all leather breifcase along with papers, diary, pens, phone and book/magerzine to read. Its a pain but all meeting papers...
