Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

For domestic travelling, I disagree. I think the $9 sales fares between SYD-MEL will be back within 6 months of going back to Stage 1 restrictions and to make barriers to entry a little harder for would be competitors. You also need to stimulate growth which was JQ's business approach.

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

QF has diversified enough to be able to take a hit. It owns most of their aircraft outright (unlike VA) so at best it is currently paying parking and maintenance fees. QF also have QFF, which was heads and toes above water compared to Velocity in terms of reach and profitability. It will also...

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

SQ have tried and failed many times. They just took an $18B from the Singapore Government, and didn't have a dime for VA. What does that tell you? Actually, not sure what the ACCC can really do. It's taken them over a year to review QF share purchase of Alliance and still no answers on that...

Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

As awful as this sounds, 10M Velocity points = 10 million grams of nothing. They are a liability. I'm sure Velocity itself will also go into Administration.

Airlines eye new slots at Haneda (Tokyo)

Sidenote: I wonder if Pleb Status noticed the emphasis on "commence on 29 March" in VA’s application. Re: Application VA comes across as having massive FOMO (totally justified). It's going to be difficult for the IASC to deny VA's application. The extra capacity is guaranteed going with a...

Airlines eye new slots at Haneda (Tokyo)

That would be a big mistake. Even though the situation in HKG is challenging, HKG prime time slots are gold. CX can’t fly additional routes to BNE, SYD, MEL and PER and there is virtually zero access to available slots at “corporate travel” friendly times. It would also mean that QF/CX have...

Airlines eye new slots at Haneda (Tokyo)

I did provide and make mention to many credible references. The Air Services Agreement, the IASC invitation, the QF Application. You can source these yourself, this isn't a thesis. There has also been reference by other users earlier on in this thread. I have also give you some actual facts re...

Airlines eye new slots at Haneda (Tokyo)

Err. HND is slot restricted. “Taken up” = “being used”. The fact that it is 29 March, the start of NS where slots changes occur is a dead giveaway. HND doesn’t use placeholders. Australian registered airlines receive two daytime slots from 29 March 2020 because that what was negotiated with the...

Airlines eye new slots at Haneda (Tokyo)

If my memory serves me correctly, if you are connecting to the NH flight from a VA domestic flight (on the same ticket) you still have to collect your bags at T2 and self connect to T1. This happens with a lot of other airlines VA interline with.

Airlines eye new slots at Haneda (Tokyo)

If you read the bilateral agreement, the QF application and the article you reference you will see that the slots have to be taken up by 29 March. Not "for the Olympics." They will want more HND slots because they have a presence there and it will make operations more flexible. The other slot...

Airlines eye new slots at Haneda (Tokyo)

The argument QF is making is that VA will not have the approvals in place to fly to HND form 29 March 2019 and there is nothing stopping VA from commencing flights to Narita, and either way there will be more seats to Japan.

Airlines eye new slots at Haneda (Tokyo)

Err. Qantas have said they would be commencing double daily ops out of SYD. So there would be a net increase.

    - VA and NH have no relationship outside a normal interline agreement. NH also has an interline agreement with QF. - A proposed JV between NH and VA would take months to plan and get approvals for, then execute. I’m not even sure if either country is even allowed to codeshare on each other’s...

Virgin, Affinity prepare sale document for Velocity

VA created more shares in order to get the equity and therefore devalued the interests of other shareholders at the same time. VA then used that equity to sure up their balance sheet. This is well documented and is one of the reasons why NZ had no more time for VA. I suggest you read more into...

Virgin, Affinity prepare sale document for Velocity

And what about the debt? VA ran to HNA a few years ago for an equity stake in order to pay off a loan and VA have already indicated the will run at a loss this year. There is a reason why Scurrah has put all projects on hold and is conducting a review of the entire business. Competing interests...

Virgin, Affinity prepare sale document for Velocity

AFR have said (July 10 Article July 11 Article) VA is looking to sell more of Velocity if it chooses to go down the listing pathway. Given the recent announcements from VA in the past few weeks and the May update to the market, VA are having cash issues or there are other financial concerns with...

VA you will lose this longterm Plat....

QF still use more A330s for domestic ops than VA and is by and large due to having more A330s in their fleet. Yes, QF (like VA) have downgauged services to B737s but more or less you will find more A330s on QF's transcons. Example - Morning of May 8, 2020 on PER-SYD is attached. The "Yeah, nah"...

Qantas giveth and then taketh away [Send PAX to PAGSS lounge at MNL rather than better CX]

Err. I'm not sure what more QF can do re lounge in order to service one flight a day in an airport that has been voted one of the worst. QC membership is not a membership tier in oneworld. QF G and above can use the CX lounge. @Melburnian1/ @whughes3 - MNL is very slot controlled and QF ran...

VA you will lose this longterm Plat....

This is the problem with only having four available A330s for domestic flying. QF has a bigger network and therefore has more aircraft and frequencies. However, you already know this. Also - VA552 or double the flying time by going via BNE over VA556. Yeah, nah. You just need to sit down and...

Virgin, Affinity prepare sale document for Velocity

AFR are reporting Virgin aren't in the financial position to buy the 35% back and VA will potential offer more of its own stake if it seeks to list Velocity on the stock exchange. Virgin must really need the money. This won't be good in the long term.
