Got an upgrade to J on checking last Monday on QF81 to Singapore, first international free upgrade, also got my requested upgrade to J on the return leg on QF6 on Friday night, wonder if the upgrade request had anything to do with getting the free one.
I was at a Qantas market survey the other night in Sydney, along with 7 other QF Plat's and all were of the same opinion that the last round of enhancements were the final straw and that QF were pushing it to far, so they are finding out what people are thinking so it will be interesting to see...
Status: Silver (was Diamond till 1/4)
Property: Hilton Brisbane
Booked: Standard room
Received: Executive King
Got an upgrade and welcome letter as silver, no water in room.
Happy with upgrade and lounge access was very unexpected after dropping status.
Update, breakfast in the restaurant was...
Mine still says Diamond. I should be a Silver based on last year, and I just got a silver card in the mail, first time ever getting a HH membership card. So it will be interesting with next weeks stay as to what it shows on there system when I book in.
Why not try to to change the flight HKG - KUL - BKK so that you fly in to KUL, have a stop over there then fly KUL - BKK and then get on the QF flight from BKK - SYD - MEL with only a few hours in BKK airport? I would suspect that would be a lot easier then trying to change a whole lot of other...
I know I didn't requalify as Diamond, but mine is confusing, as I am not sure if I am now diamond until March 2014 or March 2015, as the extra line saying to maintain Diamond for 2015 I need 60 nights, which would imply I have diamond for 2014.
Having traveled via Cairns to Port Moresby a few times, I can answer some of your questions
1. I think you should be able to check in your bags in Sydney all the way through, but have not flown Jetstar so they maybe different.
2. The TRS desk is beyond the customs and immigration, as regards...

If you have the cash do F, if not do J and put in for an F upgrade on one or both legs if you have the points.
We went in F to Europe this year and came back in J, we enjoyed both legs and F is better then J but J is still better then Y. We didn;t dine together in F, and didn't even think about...

I am not sure but I assume it is the luck of the draw who you get and if they know what they are doing, I got lucky, for a change.
re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's?
Booked SYD-BNE-TSV-BNE-SYD for 48k and $349.16 + $7 today took less than 10 mins on the phone with most of it on hold waiting for there computer to unfreeze, would have been nicer online but it worked. The CSR knew what...
Why not book an MH flight form SIN to KUL, gives you access as it is a OW airline. I have done it a number of times flying QF to SIN and then on to KUL with MH, separate tickets but far cheaper than a single ticket with QF the whole way, with the SIN KUL leg on 3K.
No problem, I was sitting by the glass wall just inside the door, I was there with a work mate from about 5 till 6.30 when we went to get dinner before an early night, before the 4.30 am check out.
Maybe next time.
I will be there Sunday night but will have a work colleague along so not sure what we are doing yet, and will have an early start Monday for a flight to PNG. I am staying at the Hilton so may be in the lounge if you are there.

We thought the QF seat seemed roomier, and with the sheepskin mattress, was a dream to sleep on. The food was better quality,we did have dine on demand (so not sure why that was not on there flight we were also on QF1). In QF F there is the ability to have a...
