ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

I've found they've refused to refund it - assuming they've had too many over payments and requests for refunds. They will only refund to the source or if your accountant tells them (at a rate for the accountant's services which likely exceeds the value of the points by doing this in the first...

    Qantas Premier Titanium card

All the ones I’ve used over the years aren’t any better than Googling yourself. Guess that’s the path Amex platinum has taken. Notionally, Centurion haven’t done that yet …

    Qantas Premier Titanium card

Not sure Centurion will have what you’re looking for either … they’re apparently good travel agents according to them. YMMV

    AMEX Platinum Concierge Gone

I think Amex have been milking it in AU for some time and as competition continues to fall away (like Diners who weren't really competition but were the only other Charge card) they don't need to do quite as much to retain that leadership. I'm not quite so sure we'll get anything to replace it...

    RewardPay Alternatives

I currently use yak pay and am happy. Depends on how many points $10k in fees earns you. Assuming it’s all Amex and you can get your GST back that would be somewhere around $526k in Amex spend. Is that what you’re looking at? assuming you value a point at 1c AUD each, should be roughly 1.18m MR...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Likewise - thank you. I will try that tonight - I've not been able to see it and AMEX US keep telling me to try again later.

All AU Diners Club personal cards will be cancelled in January 2024

I think I’ll go sq via Belocity as has been suggested. Was originally planning to hold the points in Diners until I needed them but can’t do that with the shutdown.

All AU Diners Club personal cards will be cancelled in January 2024

assuming the answer is no but just checking is Diners part of any bonus point promotions with Velocity atm? My impression is not as they’re not looking to keep us as customers since the service has been shut down. Never hurts to ask :)

All AU Diners Club personal cards will be cancelled in January 2024

Thanks for explaining that. I hadn’t thought about that. That’s a good idea. I haven’t sent anything to Virgin since they went bust. I still have memories of losing my Ansett points when it went bust. But might do this. I’d like to leave them in virgin a while to get maximum life out of the...

NAB removing point earn on BPay

Likewise thought NAB had removed this when the other banks did the same ages ago. Surprised it still works - guess the going was good while it lasted for those in the know.

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

I found that I could only get access to the corporate trustee for my family trusts and SMSF which the ATO would then not transfer that credit to the underlying trust/SMSF. I now just try to get started with my payments as early as possible when my accountant tells me I have a payable so I can...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Thanks for the heads up re myUS. Had worked for me with Amex in the past though C1 refused to accept it for a CC application recently. They let me apply for a checking account which they subsequently shut down for an undisclosed reason. I think might have to move from myUS. Any other...

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Doesn’t seem to. Also clear my cookies and browsing history in chrome for windows before further attempts. It did help to get my one a day purchase approved while I was overseas though coming in with an AU IP with VPN - I think it automatically blocks purchase requests from overseas.

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

I bought 10 to equal the site daily maximum of $2,500. Any further are blocked. The site blames the decline on Amex but Amex tells me my account is in good standing and they received no authorization request.

I used my US Amex with no problems in Italy - though it was Aug 2022 so getting a little dated.

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Thanks for the heads up - looks different to the site I usually use ATO - Card Payment I'll log in using my MyGov ID and try it out. 15 payments sounds like alot easier than 5 a day. At $1,247.50 per day, need to get started well before the due date. This will boost daily payments to $3,742.50...

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Thanks for the heads up - I'm considering getting a PE again for this. I have a US Citi Premier card which gives 3x on supermarket spend. This doesn't trigger as supermarket spend for that card - which would have been a good outcome given the exchange rate means it's still 2 FF points per AUD.

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Thanks for the heads up. How do you get to 15 a day with the ATO? My payments start declining once I get to 5 then it resets the next day. It’s not exactly 24 hours but not 1 past midnight either (I haven’t tried this but made payments at 9pm then tried at 9am the following. Day and it didn’t...

    Downgrading from Centurion to Platinum

I have come to the conclusion that Centurion is a travel service who you pay a $6,500 annual retainer to. Your RM is your travel agent who is available during business hours - just like an old school travel agent. For the rest of us (like me) who book their own travel then it's a credit...
