Hangovers in Hungary, trains across Ukraine, and trotting through Transnistria

I was just looking back at my photos and memories from my Ukraine and Ethiopia trips in late 2019 and felt sad but fortunate to visit both amazing countries. To walk the same streets and meet the faces that are living this now is just heartbreaking.

I did notice it said VIP exclusive but didn't give it a second thought. Perhaps I am a VIP although I'm not sure what one has to do to become one.

Wine lovers musings, amusings and news

Giant steps acquired by Jackson Family Wines. While this will undoubtedly allow mean better exposure in the US market I wonder what it will mean for the long term quality of the brand?

I also ended up with 6 x 2018 Gembrook. Just popped into a store with 2017 stock and swapped over 3. Happy to now have both vintages - according to the winery the 2018 has a tannin line not normally seen in their Pinots due to the lack of rain and how hard the vines had to work to find water...

Hangovers in Hungary, trains across Ukraine, and trotting through Transnistria

Sadly for both trips I never did a TR however I do have some photos. The centre of town to me had changed the most and it was where the most construction and money seemed to be on show (except for the Sheriff stores, stadium and other enterprises). That said if you wander some of the outskirts...

I've been waiting for a 25% or more in any 6 but it's been a long time. Still lots of good clearance around so this one could be a goer. Can I clarify with others that according to the t&c's we can't pay with a woolies egift card or it won't track?

Hangovers in Hungary, trains across Ukraine, and trotting through Transnistria

Moldova and the weirdness of Transnistria is one of my favourite places I've visited. Thankful I snuck in a second visit to both last October for the annual wine festival after first visiting in 2015. If anyone loves wine and cognac it's a special place. I was surprised to see how quickly...

    Dili, East Timor

I visited Dili a few years ago for three nights. Only stayed in town but did a day scuba trip a couple of hours away. I'll add some basic insight for those who are interested. Accommodation varied dramatically with many resorts and high end establishments along the water just outside of town...

Should I make a quick dash to USA to see my beloved?

My partner is currently in Chicago visiting family and is due back in Australia Monday morning. The latest travel requirements have meant as she is a temporary Australian resident (who lives and works in Australia) she can't return until she gets authorisation from Australian immigration. I've...
