+1 to this. In some ports the boarding pass even says 'No lounge access' on it, or has STAFF printed. Adhere to the rules, be flexible with your travel times and enjoy the benefits. But it is a totally different experience to traveling on paid tickets.

As per the previous posts this sounds like a clever (or not so clever!) promotion by the Nespresso marketing and PR team. They've probably paid VA quite handsomely to be in the lounge, for a fixed period of time to get feedback and also to hopefully get all us frequent flyer business types...

I'd give it a go as a novelty. Being SYD based saving an hour or two is no big deal, but the bragging rights of flying direct from Australia to LHR would be worth it! And if the flight has a decent arrival time (like anytime after noon as opposed to 6am), then that adds to the appeal for me.

SYD - OOL return, one in flexi and one in saver. Use the upgrade for flexi and get J class (although some may argue it's a waste... Unless you have one left over....)

SYD - OOL is my standard end-of-qualifying-year status run. If I needed 20 SC's i'd find a cheap, Wednesday evening run, head up after work, have a toastie and a beer in the lounge at OOL and be home in time for bed. Much cheaper than BNE or MEL which are the other obvious ones.

+1 to this, I've never paid a full fare J for Virgin SYD - PER and reverse and never had an issue. Sounds like a mixed up new(ish) FA.

One way long haul LAX - OZ is never cheap unfortunately. The best deals I've been able to find have been (in the past) on NZ via AKL or a combo of Hawaiian and Jetstar routing through HNL. Also, just keep in mind the points upgrades to Y+ and J on VA for long haul are few and far between atm...

I'd do it.... Still one stop and transiting through AUH is arguably a lot nicer than LAX! Plus J or F on EY is up there with the world's best.... #goforit
