Do you like titles (eg Mr / Mrs / Miss / Dr / etc)?

I think it is very much situational and (in general!) I don't have a problem with title/lack of title but more so how I am addressed. I am slightly irritated by Qantas staff (particularly the female FA's) who can manage to place the "Mr" and "Mrs" before surnames of passengers boarding in...

    VA Global Wallet

Received today, thank you Velocity! The travel wallet is certainly a sweet touch. I've activated the card and can now see the exchange rates in my account which seem similar to what I would usually pay. I look forward to loading it up and giving it a go :)

    Qantas Club question

Unless you are naturally flying enough to come somewhat close to Gold, I think purchasing the Qantas Club membership is the best option. Personally, the additional benefits (what benefits?) I experienced after a few years of Gold would not have been worth paying anything extra for (in terms of...

US Immigration delays due Budget cuts

Okay, how did I miss this! Who does direct to SFO these days?

    Virgin America general question

Good luck! I haven't had any issues with priority security or baggage when flying Delta as VA gold.

On board recognition - who gets any?

I was quite impressed with the onboard recognition received as just gold with VA. After a number of years of up and down status with Qantas I don't recall anything even remotely like the kind of onboard personal recognition I received with VA. And! As a bonus, the hostess called me by my proper...

US Immigration delays due Budget cuts

My recent experience after arriving into LAX on VA1 was horrendous. It was well over two hours getting through immigration. We were continually standing in makeshift holding pens before making it to the main immigration hall. Yuck. I had no problems with priority security on my connection. The...

    Delta lounge access

Just an update for anyone interested in Delta lounge access and bag charges for VA gold.. I flew VA SYD-LAX and was travelling domestically on another itinerary with Delta the same day. I checked my bags through to my final destination with VA in Sydney and was not charged anything by Delta...

Queen Street Mall in lockdown (BNE)

^^ I think that depends on what court. Case in point below. Judge rejects Colorado theater shooting suspect's motions on insanity plea - U.S. News Do our thoughts change regarding the acceptance of an insanity plea in relation to the magnitude of the crime? When do we have sympathy for the...

    Refunds & Reward Points

No, in my experience you will lose the earned points when you receive a refund on a credit card transaction. Eg. if you make the purchase in January, earn the points, and then in March you receive a refund for that transaction, the points will also be deducted from your March points tally. I...

    Seat map at cinemas

Aggh! It's people like you who ruin it for the rest of us! :p This is a bit of a pet peeve of mine ever since I witnessed the havoc created by not sitting in your allocated seat.. The session was quite full and everyone seemed to be either trying to sit in their allocated seat or just randomly...

QF International Upgrade Success at Airport

However, I would think that people on this forum would be less likely to ask for an upgrade at the airport than your average passenger. I know I have taken some friends and family to the airport and they asked expectantly at check-in if an upgrade was available (always "no") . In my...

A couple of questions from an AAdvantage newbie

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it Hi Dale, If you call AA with the AA booking reference and ask for the Malaysian (?) airlines booking reference they should have no trouble giving this to you and you can then usually check your booking on that carriers website to confirm...

QF J sleeper service - dates for new services

Sounds good! I will be trying it out in 2 weeks from Dallas so I think that extra padding will make a difference on a 16 hr leg! I didn't know about the tea, but I'll take that too :p

A couple of questions from an AAdvantage newbie

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it I'm not expert on this but just speaking from experience, it is the same award seat you are seeing. If you book both on AA and Qantas at the exact same moment in time... You might get lucky?!

Booking AA Awards Across 2 AA Accounts

^^ Oh, sorry for the confusion.. I just meant in my experience the credit card name must match account holders name. I have no problems booking awards from my boyfriends account, but he has to pay the taxes too!

Booking AA Awards Across 2 AA Accounts

In my experience booking with AA (online from US) you do need to be using a credit card in the account holders name, regardless of the name on the ticket etc. If the account is in your Mum's name, she would need to use her card.

Reserve Your Entrée (Main Meal) Before You Fly

This is a nice addition, I haven't noticed it before but my flights with AA are usually short and there is no meal service anyway. Has anyone had any luck with the QF version of this? In December for my DFW-SYD booking I was emailed and sent a link to select my main, which I did. But it was...

In an empire state of mind: a jaunt to the Big Apple feat. stop-over in LA

Loving the pictures. After you emphasized the time spent on your appearance and your flight attire I would have liked to see a picture of this too! Maybe next time? :) Enjoy New York!
