"Australia? ..... Never Heard of It"

A few years ago we started a holiday in British Columbia. We then drove over the Canada/USA border into Washington state. The accents of the two regions are naturally very similar. That didn't stop a native Washingtonian from picking us as visitors from north of the border.

    Air ticket prices to Vancouver

I recently flew Air NZ to Vancouver and return to Perth. I was looking for a while and found that they were consistently cheaper. To get the cheap flights you need to check their site regularly until the "cheapy" comes up. The prices fluctuate quite dramatically, so it's worth checking back...

    Cash passports or alternative

Re: Cash passports or alternative - Debit cards rule What the...!?!?! For a second there I thought I was posting stuff without realising. Welcome MrB. From Mr B. As I've said before, I can't find anything bad about the 28 degree card, just so long as you keep it in the black.

    Cash passports or alternative

I just had a quick look at some old statements. In Europe 12 months ago I made withdrawals in France, Germany, Austria, Hungary and Czech republic. I wasn't ever charged a fee for any of those withdrawals. My wife used it for cash in Malaysia about six months ago, once again with no fee. The...

The same as any other CC. They expect you to go into the red, and then charge you 20% PA interest. It's very important to stay in the black. But that's not hard to do if you keep track of how much you put in and take out. I'll be using it in Canada in a few months.

    Cash passports or alternative

I had a Wizard Clear Advantage Mastercard. You could load this up in the black with AUD and then withdraw cash in the local currency wherever you travelled in the world. There were NO charges or transaction fees, and the exchange rate is/was as good as you'd get. Recently it's changed name...

    Choosing seats on-line

Thanks albatross, but no joy. I suspect that because we've booked through a TA, there probably is no actual seat allocation, only our window or aisle preferences. Never mind, I'll be on-line exactly 48 hours before we take off.

    Choosing seats on-line

Thanks Logan. I just double checked, and you CAN book the exit seats online for a price, but the others aren't yet available. Looks like the 48 hour thing stilll applies.

    Choosing seats on-line

Thanks heaps. We booked through an agent. I did ring Singapore Air a few weeks ago and told the guy which seats we'd like. He said he would do his best, but I guess we won't know until OLCI is open. Ah well 48 hours is better than the 24 you get with Qantas.

    Choosing seats on-line

Four of us are travelling PER-SIN-CDG in mid March. I understand that you can select your seat on-line beforehand. How early can this be done?
