Any interest in a melbourne dinner?

It has been a very long time (nearly 2 years IIRC?) since our last dinner in Melbourne...is there any interest in a restart? Would be nice to confiem that we are all still alive if nothing else. Maybe at OT, or any other convenient location.

    Interesting little touch from Qantas

When I boarded QF20 at MNL last night, I noticed this on my side table: Apparently a few others in J also got this but most did not. When I queried an FA about this I was told that it is a new aimed at good customers but they weren't sure what the exact criteria were, they just got a list. Have...

    Toilets in international J

I flew QF19 SYD-MNL yesterday on a 333 in J, and was surprised to find that the passageway from the cabin to the coughpit is now locked off, and with it access to the forward toilet The cabin crew pleaded ignorance as to the reason for this: Does anyone have any intel on what is happening here...

    Weird e-mail from Amex

I have just received this apparently from Amex: HUH??? Maybe the work experience kids have moved on from Qantas? That number bears no resemblance to anything remotely obvious. And I didn't know my surname is apparently a date...

    Kiosk checkin at MEL

Was at MEL this morning and noticed that the large kiosk checkin area at the LH end of the international checkin area is apparently being prepared for use by SQ; many of the units were displaying SQ logos and appeared to be ready for use. There has been no obvious publicity about this and...

No more "anytime access" for CL's

Qantas axes a prized perk of elite Chairmans Lounge status Considering how long ago this was abolished for us mere mortals, it is a bit surprising it has taken this liong!

Miracles do happen: op-up on SQ!

I flew SQ237 SIN-MEL last night on a paid J ticket, connecting from MNL. I had upgraded my previous outbound flight SQ238 MEL-SIN to F with points, but was happy to "slum it" for the return. Scheduled departure was 2345, so I left the SKL around 2300; turned out the gate (C1) was a long way...

MEL parking: "jetstar" promo code no longer works :-(

For a long time now, it has been possible to obtain some modest but useful discounts on pre-paid parking at MEL (via the website) by entering the promo code as "jetstar". Sadly, this no longer seems to work. Does anyone know of any other such codes which are still current?

Lounge access in SIN during F->J transit

If I am arriving at SIN in F and have an onward flight in J (no F cabin), do I by any chance have access to the SKL F lounge, or am I restricted to the J lounge? The SQ website does not seem to say anything very useful on the subject.

Yet again, bonuses for credit card transfers

I have just received a snail mail (!) from QF advising me of yet another offer of bonus points for credit card transfers (in my case from Amex); the bonuses start from 15% (< 100K) to 30% (> 1M). These are usually offered about every six months, but the last one ended only on Mar 30 last; wonder...

Late gate change at SIN: not very impressed!

Yesterday (24/5) I flew SIN-MEL on SQ217 (dep 1045), in paid Business. As expected, it was pretty good overall...EXCEPT FOR... I got to the airport (T3) at about 0830 an checked in as normal, and received a BP showing the departure gate as A14; the checkin agent pointed this out to me verbally...

Are QF Dash-8s really this good?

While doing some searches on theqantassource.com, I came across this: WOW! Those are some flights for a Dash-8! Wonder what on earth is going on here?

Does SQ website "Manage booking" ever work?

For the first time in quite a while, I have booked a flight via the SQ website, and I have been trying to use the "manage booking" facility to make some minor amendments. But everything I try: entering passport data, changing seat, or selecting meal, gets rejected (after a lengthy wait). Do...

"Lounge Credits": possible restriction of DC lounge privileges?

I visited a lounge in an international airport over the weekend using my DC card; at the reception desk I noticed a sign saying something like: "From March 1st 2016, Diners Club lounge access will be governed by 'lounge credits'. One lounge credit will allow one lounge visit". The people at...

    "Enrolment date" suddenly changed!

I have just logged on to the QFF site, and to my surprise it is showing my enrolment date as May 2002, instead of what it actually was: Jan 1996. Everything else looks OK. While this is not a huge deal, it is a bit of a worry that a basic piece of data like this can be showing incorrectly: has...

QF 422 10/11: delayed by stowaway!

This has to rate as one of the most "interesting" flights I have ever done! I was on QF422 MEL-SYD this morning 10/11, in seat 1C in J; my first surprise came when my neighbour in 1A turned out to be a VVIP (think: ex-PM, who was, I must say, most amiable, introducing himself and even offering...

Weird seat blocking in domestic J (737)

I have an upcoming booking SYD-MEL in J on a 738(actually a connecting flight). From the time I booked until T-80, the seat map (from E/F) was showing row 1 as blocked, with the rest open for me; this is normal for domestic J, with the row 1 seats becoming avalable at T-80. In this case however...
