    Credit Card Fees

I noticed this last week in Brisbane and was a bit taken aback. Certainly higher than other competitive hotels (Sofitel, Westin etc). Complained and got a response from the hotel: My comment (in a review) was : "The other change since my previous stay is that this Hilton has increased their...

    Diners Club foreign exchange rates.

Having used my Citibank issued Diners card (companion card to a Citi Mastercard) in a number of countries, I have generally found the rate to be approx 1% worse than the rate when using other "FX fee free" cards such as 28 degrees or Commonwealth Bank Gold Mastercard. Acceptance in USA was...

    Diners and Paypal

I had this same problem and was given the same advice by PayPal, which wasn’t correct as I’ve paid the same merchant many times by PayPal using credit card. After removing the Diners card from my PayPal wallet, everything started working normally again and all the other cards became visible...

QF5005 Syd to Pek via Hangzhou (China Eastern codeshare)

Hi @BjJames - your post prompted me to go back through some notes I made on the day of the flight last year. I am normally a very positive person and get excited about new flight experiences, but I could only describe QF5005 (MU712) as pretty underwhelming and in my experience, poor value for a...

    American Airlines - USA Domestic - Review/Opinion

I also fully agree - I’ve travelled AA a lot in the last few years (in Flagship Business, domestic first and domestic Economy (main cabin extra) and have been very impressed by their service and consistency. In many flights from Asia to North America in J, I found their planes, seats, service...

Air Changan - Chinese domestic airline

My memory could be wrong, but I recall (last year) seeing their flights sold on Chinese local websites (ctrip/trip.com) and actually being codeshares on HU or other HNA group flights.

    Worst in-flight meal you've received?

Flying in J on MU from SYD to PEK via HGH last December the food was really poor, in presentation, taste and lack of choice. See below main course, which was worse than it looks... I tried this flight with a sense of adventure on the QF codeshare as I wanted to try something different, but it...

    Hong Kong Business/Sapphire lounge review

Having also tried each of the Sapphire level lounges at HKG, my favourite is the QF lounge (as it is of my family). The staff always are great and recognise us even if there are several months between visits, and I have always enjoyed the food and drinks there. When flying any OW airline...

For QF and VA - a LATAM solution to boarding that WORKS!!

I also agree that my AA experiences have always been great, as (all of) ruby, sapphire and emerald at various times. Whime may critcise AA for various things, they are very good at boarding...

QF5005 Syd to Pek via Hangzhou (China Eastern codeshare)

To try domething a bit different, today I booked myself on QF5005 (really MU712) on 7th December, which is the China Eastern A330 flight from Sydney to Beijing via Hangzhou (HGH). I did this because, unusually, it was a lot cheaper than taking QF107 that day, I’m travelling on my own and am not...

    Diners club companion card

Some direct feedback through trying the card in mainland China over the past few weeks: - The card does not work in most terminals - Even terminals that take foreign Visa and Mastercards (which I successfully tried) would not take the Diners card - I found 2 terminals that even took Amex card...

Flight change CLE-DFW. Connection still viable?

If you are on AA and connecting it will be more than fine. No need to be concerned at all.

    Diners club companion card

I requested one yesterday as a free addition to my Signature card. It will make a handy replacement for the Commonwealth Bank plat Amex, which I used largely for non-AUD transactions to earn points. An added benefit that I want to try is that allegedly these cards (Diners/Discover) can be used...

    MF8667 runway excursion MNL 16 August 2018

I've flown them 4 times (2 x 787s, 2 x 737s) and while from a passenger perspective they were ok, they were nothing particularly special. The flights were good, but the connections through Xiamen were anything but convenient (in fact, could not be more confusing..)

Hong Kong Airport - Which Lounge to use ?

I visited both the Deck and the Pier recently and preferred the Pier. The variety of spaces seemed nicer. I do have a soft spot for the QF lounge though and personally find it to be one of QF's best. I find the staff there friendlier than in the CX lounges.

MU awards now showing on QF website

I tried to make some award bookings on the QF website to see what availability came and noticed the following - some mainland China cities that are served by MU are not listed as valid cities on the QF site (for example Urumqi URC, or Taiyuan TYN, both served by MU). Hopefully this glitch gets...

    Trip.com ... interesting one

Trip.com is the Chinese travel agency ctrip. I recently booked some domestic QF flights through them (and paid in RMB) at a price that was significantly better than on the QF site. The tickets were issued on QF (081- tickets) within 1 hour of the booking., and were for SYD-MEL-SYD.

    Lounge Access Help Desk

In my experience (as recently as December) with Qantas Club you can access any Admirals Club before a flight on AA. It definitely did not need to be booked as a QF codeshare or part of a QF ticket.
