Who else still holds the Citibank Free For Life Premier Card?

This card is the gift that keeps on giving - a nice update to the complementary travel insurance effective 1st Nov: The eligibility criteria for International Travel Insurance now includes spending at least $500 on any prepaid travel costs (i.e., your travel costs that you pay for before...

Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

Hopefully not adding fuel to the fire but just read this elsewhere, a comment that was allegedly made from a (senior) Velocity employee to a friend. 'get out whatever you can ASAP' Sounds like further restrictions are coming.

I have more than $4,999 in Travelbank

I'd be sleeping with one eye open. Crikey.

Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

Yep. Decision made. No travel forecast in the next 3 years but just transferred 2M over to SQ. I feel some F flights might be in my future to use these things up. Hopefully VA survive. Just a bit too much risk to carry with a reasonably hefty balance.

Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

So I've got a VFF balance a shade over 2M. Not really sure what to do, no real travel plans over the next few years so SQ transfer doesn't really appeal (recent sq21/22 killed my spirit lol). Do I let it ride or cash out for vouchers?. Probably leaning towards all in.... Anyone else with larger...

Reduced AMEX earn rates from April 2019

I’m in the same boat, and have recently moved my shopping to Aldi (ANZ rewards black visa so pretty much the same supermarket earn as edge with regular velocity bonuses) and just shop at Coles when bonus offers appear. So with only a tank of petrol every 5 or so weeks - I have literally nothing...

Your Golden Opportunity (massive amex referral bonus)

150k/20k edge here. Refer the significant other for a nice $195 85k SQ (or essentially $0 with $200 travel credit) Amex gotta be hurting with such a generous offer.

15-25% bonus Velocity points on transfers (Feb-March 2019)

Easy decision for me now, velocity it is (non accent premium here). 25% bonus makes it a no brainer for my situation Vs SQ.

Points, Points, My Kingdom for Points (or not so much?)

I'm pretty much out now as well, have already cancelled 2x amex cards and will cancel last one in April after transferring MR balance out. Will continue passive point earn with ANZ rewards black Visa and sit on the few Million points stashed across QF, VA and SQ.

Reduced AMEX earn rates from April 2019

Don't forget free diners companion card earns 2 Citi points per $1 everywhere.

Reduced AMEX earn rates from April 2019

For all those explorer / edge holders - last day for 15% additional velocity with historically no bonus transfers till after amex devaluation. Unless I can think of something that works better for me (no decent travel opportunity in the next 24 months) I'll be transferring to velocity tonight...

Reduced AMEX earn rates from April 2019

Edge letter arrived here as well no points doubling. Both edge and explorer now. That will be a total of 8 cards out if circulation from my x2 accounts. Agreed. I intend on stocking up with Coles gift vouchers for super market and fuel spend prior cancellation to ride out some of that 18 month...

Reduced AMEX earn rates from April 2019

Have a read of my post #497 for my edge case study. For my situation its just not worth it with the hassle of managing a 2nd set of cards for bugger all additional points.

Reduced AMEX earn rates from April 2019

Yes effectively halved & if enrolled in Accent most likely existing balance as well. Edge currently receives the equivalent of 2.0 airline miles per $ (edit: for fuel) which will drop to 1.5 airlines miles per $ under new world. Supermarket spend at same rate as well and gets worse from there...

15% bonus Velocity points on transfers (November 2018)

Milk run complete. 2 x flybuys, ANZ rewards & Citi rewards for a nice little top up. I hadn't realised citi had reduced the number of points required for transfer to 2000. Makes free for life signature companion diners even more attractive now for international spend.

Reduced AMEX earn rates from April 2019

My explorer letter turned up today. Nothing more to add than a mighty chuckle at the envelope and letter header: American Express: Don't live life without it ... I think many of us are now planning exactly that. At least someone in their marketing department has a sense of humour :D

Reduced AMEX earn rates from April 2019

Analysed my Edge spend on super market / fuel / random gift vouchers Vs ANZ rewards black that i also hold on potential points loss while sitting out 18 month signup qualification period. Provided ANZ continue to offer 30% loadings to velocity based on my spend i'll only be ~12996 points down...

Reduced AMEX earn rates from April 2019

What about transferring to Marriott? 24 month expiry which can be extended by earning points (transfer) from what i've read. Recent devaluation so probably fairly stable value wise for a while. Ive never used Marriott/SPG but with no travel on the horizon, already multiple million in velocity...

Reduced AMEX earn rates from April 2019

So true. Was at a BBQ today where a few of us were talking Amex strategies moving forward. 70 to 200k pa spenders so probably quite a bit lower than here. Prepay as much as possible and stacks of gift cards, cancel all Amex cards in April and push all spend back to various visa and MasterCard...

Reduced AMEX earn rates from April 2019

Will be interesting to see how explorer cards linked to accent (edge in my case) are treated. No mail today so guess I'll find out tomorrow or friday.
