Singapore business class - what to do with the points potential

Hi All. First post in a long time. I am about to take my first international flight in two and a half years. I am coming home to Australia from Bangkok for a visit. Flying on SQ. Paid ticket (return). What should I do with the miles I could earn? Pre-COVID I would put them on my Thai card...

    LTP - the $1,500,000 reality

Going back to basics. A frequent flyer program is to reward you for flying, and to thus encourage you to fly more. That has to be the rationale. So - who is going to be encouraged to fly more by the new LTP? I can't think of any traveller type that would be encouraged to fly more. If you...

EK Business Class and QFF earning - worth it? Alternatives?

All Am flying EK from BRU to BKK in biz class (one way). Am QF LTG (+ TG Star Gold) but am nothing and nowhere on EK. The earning rates of QF points on EK are horrible. But what else can I do? I am nothing on EK. I do a lot of flying (out of BKK). 150-200k kms a year. But most of it is...

Star Alliance or TG arrivals lounge in Milan

I am flying to MIL on TG biz class. Anyone know any details about a TH or Star Alliance arrivals lounge at Malpensa? Google searching produces no results. Thanks

EK or QF lounge in HKG

I visited both. Food in QF is much better. Broader selection of salads and a more appetising main dish (chicken curry). While it is nice to have a bar tender decide at the QF lounge (missing from EK), EK gets a nose in front on the drinks by way of having Moët over QFa generic no name sparkling.

EK or QF lounge in HKG

Yep. Is my first time flying out of HKG non-oneworld in years. Longer than I can remember. Love the CX lounge but not an option. Have never used either QF or EK in HKG

EK or QF lounge in HKG

Hi. Flying tonight on EK is Y class. Am QF WP. What's the best lounge? QF or EK. Especially, which one has the best champagne:)?!

Soft landing second year "lottery win"

Two years ago the QF status changes on non QF oneworld flights made it near impossible for a non-Oz based flyer like me to maintain WP. So I did the AA challenge and quickly made WP equivalent on AA. Shifting all my miles collection to AA. QF gave me a soft landing WP putting me WP on both AA...

Bangkok first timers - your #1 tip?

The Sheraton on Sukhumit has the best food and coughtail collection of the Sunday brunches I have tried. The Kempinski is world class. Not as good as the Sheraton and a smaller coughtail list but still world class. The Kempinski has three things going for it beyond the Sheraton. 1. it is 5...

    Raffles V Marina Bay

MBS looks beautiful but it misses out of the functional pieces. Can be a queue of cars to get in, then a queue of people in check in, then a queue around elevators, then a queue for breakfast and so on. I prefer the Ritz Carlton or the Fullerton. Conrad also ok but needs a renovation.

CX premium or JAL premium to New York - which is better?

thanks all. CX it is. Would do J if I could but there is nothing available. I looked at all oneworld carriers and all options. Only possibility was AAnytime Hong Kong via Dallas but very expensive in miles.

CX premium or JAL premium to New York - which is better?

Hi All I have two redemption options from a trip from BKK to NYC. Either CX or JAL in premium. Neither has business class available on my dates. Would be grateful for views on which is a better product? Cost is factor. The CX seats are 6k less QF points and $200 less in taxes. But if the...

    Feels Like Home

Between "you're the reason we fly", "a new spirit" and now "feels like home" - it feels like QF change marketing taglines more often than they refresh wine on long haul Y class.

Bangkok transits - hotels and rail

I recommend going downtown if you have two nights. Stay in the Sukhumvit area. Lots of hotels to choose from between Siam and Asoke. The problem with the airport train is that it runs every fifteen minutes, takes 32 minutes and has limited stops. Means that if you have luggage and want to get...

    Heads up about program changes

Moa99 - I dont have the numbers at hand but your basic point is right. I live in BKK. I could qualify for WP under the old SC regime (including the 4 QF metal flights) but under the new SC partner rules, I cant make it to QF WP. Hence my move to AA

    Heads up about program changes

My executive platinum with American has just come through. In two months my QF WP will expire. Means that for time in 14 years my highest tier will be on an airline other than QF.

Passport stolen on a plane - is this possible?

Last week I received a panicked call from a friend of a friend (person A) who had just landed at BKK for the start of a 2 week TH holiday. Somewhere between boarding their flight in Dubai and getting to immigration at BKK this person's travelling companion (person B) had lost their passport...
