Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

All are last minute J trips, so full fare. I am also a member of Q Club. SYD-MEL-CNS/DRW r/t gives 200SC and 400SC with DSC for $2000 while keeping me domestic. But the DPS run seems attractive if I can sort out a very slight name difference between my license and passport with QF. Same...

No SC or points awarded for QR flight. Options?

QR is a bit problematic in this respect. Their system seems to tell QF that the fare was ineligible for any QF points. Probably a cost saving thing. One has to be very careful what class tix they get as often, class showing while tix is being purchased, turns out to be something very different...

    Happy AAdvantage vs. QF stinginess

AAdvantage used to be really good, once upon a time, when I was top tier on it. It was so easy to just buy miles through various offers. One of my favourite ones was buying some A$5000 worth of US magazines and you got some 500,000 miles. Availability, on QF was also good, using AA miles. They...

    (Possibly Targeted) Bonus 50% SC’s Book 27/05/19 - 02/06/19 for travel between 27/05/19 - 24/09/19

I got almost the same wording except for QF Points, not DSC. This Bonus Points offer is valid when you register and make a new eligible flight booking between 12.01am (AEST) 28 May 2019 and 11.59pm (AEST) 3 June 2019 for travel between 4 June 2019 and 21 May 2020. An Eligible Flight for the...

QC access to Fiji Airways Nadi Lounge

In Fiji, everything is negotiable and accessible, for a price. Considering that a weekly wage for a school teacher is A$25 per week, just for a comparison, anything can be achieved. I used to live in Fiji, in their main industrial city, which is just 25kms from the airport, and flying in and out...

    FREE x1 Qantas Lounge Pass

That's very nice of you. I wasn't even aware that you could give them away. I've had quite a few and always binned them. Silly me.

Why OH Y? [Y PAX using J lavatories]

We have 12 pax in J class and 168 in Y. What do you think the cleanliness of respective loos will be like? At least, J pax don't climb on the toilet seat with their feet, to say the least. I have been on Jetstar and Tiger , in the years before, and can say that on occasions, I have not even...

QF enforcing 3 hour checkin time limit at MEL?

I sill remember the good old days when one could drop off their luggage and check in the night before the flight next day. But that was in the days when you could still park your car on the up ramp, to departures, at SYD.

    Qantas Refuse "Assistance" dog

Only in our PC, luvvie, western, English speaking societies. Like I said before, try finding a dog on any carrier which is based in the Gulf.

Hi I’ve just joined out of frustration with QAN FF.

A delay or an issue can also arise when tix were in some different class type, apart from C, J, D. Deep discounted or companion fares can have different class letters on them, thus adding to confusion.

    Qantas Refuse "Assistance" dog

I didn't know this about trains as I see people quite frequently getting on board with dogs. Just last week a woman got on with her dog which immediately jumped on a seat and occupied all three seats while she sat opposite him. And this at a time when people can get fined for putting feet on seats.

Special promotion to join QF Club.

These are certainly very good rates, especially the 4 year one which I'd like to get. But my membership only expires sometime next year, so I doubt that I can renew it so early.

    Qantas Refuse "Assistance" dog

Very true. This current case is exactly about that. She wanted her pet to sit next to her on the flight. Nothing more, nothing less. There are also a lot of people who are allergic to dogs but dogs are allowed onto trains, buses, cabs, Uber and just about everywhere else. When some restaurant...

    Qantas Refuse "Assistance" dog

This given case involved a psychological support dog, not an assistance dog, like dogs who lead blind people. I simply do not think that such support animals, whether dogs or cats or turkeys should be allowed in the passenger cabin. This is why I asked the original question, why are...

    Qantas Refuse "Assistance" dog

MindDog does not have sufficient accreditation. That's what the main issue is. Training of assistance animals is quite unregulated. Just about anyone can start such a facility and claim whatever they want. Get your animal trained at a properly accredited facility and there will be no issues. On...

VA and QF Plat. Now we choose one

Don't forget that QF have also domestic A333s which have flat beds in J. Nothing beats that on domestic flights.

Why OH Y? [Y PAX using J lavatories]

I have prostate issues and am in my 40s. It has improved with medications and healthier diet but even during my worst times, I could hold it back for some 10 minutes. It is not like I had to do it right there and then. It is also possible to notify QF about such a medical condition, so the crew...

Why OH Y? [Y PAX using J lavatories]

I fly in domestic J only and find this practice a hit and miss, depending on the crew. Biz pax are paying 7 times more than Y pax and should have the privacy of their cabin respected, considering that there are only 12 seats there. By allowing Y pax to use J toilet, these front rows become the...
