Premium Economy not available between Australia and Singapore?

Ok, thanks. Perhaps we are getting more of the regional configuration aircraft than has been the case in the past.

Premium Economy not available between Australia and Singapore?

Hi all. We are trying to book PE Y flights to/from Europe in Feb 2023. Only options are “mixed class” with the BNE-SIN and return legs in Y. This for all dates searched, and same from SYD. And same for a straight BNE-SIN return booking - only Economy available. I presume these seats have...

Skywards booking on QF - finding the QF PNR

Hi - hopefully a quick question. My step mum has booked (well I did!) flights using some soon to expire Skywards points for BNE-CBR and return (2 separate bookings from 2 different accounts). We have (of course) received the e-ticket with the Emirates PNR, but I am trying to link some Qantas...

NAB Qantas Signature Rewards Card - QF points not crediting

Yes - I think I have another one in me having served relevant exclusion periods. There is a risk of a hit to your credit score with multiple applications, but I have not seen mine decline excessively (if at all) with 3 applications so far this year.

NAB Qantas Signature Rewards Card - QF points not crediting

My first NAB statement indicated my QFF number was not linked to the card (despite putting it in at the application stage - 95% confident I did anyway). I called up and had it added, and the 2nd statement period saw all points (1st and 2nd months), and the 90k bonus, into my QFF account. Card...

Card Promotions 125,000 Qantas Points and reduced first-year annual card fee with the NAB Qantas Rewards Signature (Point Hacks)

Thanks - was that a NAB account? I don't have one yet, but will set one up if needed.

Card Promotions 125,000 Qantas Points and reduced first-year annual card fee with the NAB Qantas Rewards Signature (Point Hacks)

A question regarding annual fee refunds when cancelling the card. How are these processed? Do NAB send a cheque, or do I need a savings account with them for a deposit? Thanks.

Book airbnb via Qantas site not working?

Same here! Not a lot of points to miss out on this booking, but I would still rather have them!

    Ask The Pilot

On the other side of the radio, we (ATC) also have pretty good coverage of the workforce through our union (Civil Air). Our union may be "small" - covering around 1000 civilian ATCs in Australia (+ RAAF), but the union has proven very effective over the years on both industrial and professional...

    Ask The Pilot

Wikipedia is your friend - check any references to Mode A for context around SSR Codes. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secondary_surveillance_radar#Secondary_radar The Mode A (SSR) replies for identity comprise 12 bits (actually 4 x 3 bits) hence the 4 octal digits.

    Ask The Pilot

There is also a new emergency code 7400 for RPAS Loss of Link. The squawk (SSR) code is generated by the ATC system from a number of pre-configured groups of codes. One code per flight leg. For example there are "international" code groups and "domestic" code groups assigned to each country...

    Ask The Pilot

Given these differences, as a pilot what cues did you have, or need, to remember which version you were flying on any particular day? Seems the variations would require quite different handling - I assume it was a common type endorsement.

    What's your favourite aircraft type?

We did a short hop FRA - GVA with LH (Euro J) about 3 years ago. Pleasant enough, reasonably quiet. Favourite aircraft type: A380. Least favourite (relatively recently) Emirates B777 in Y. Surprise honourable mention - Garuda A330 in J

GOOD NEWS! Krisflyer Miles to be extended until 2023 [previously April 2022]

I too have points expiring in June 2022 (enough for 2 x J returns to Europe). My concern is that will all these deferred points now expiring "around then" - what will be the likelihood of actually being able to redeem them on reasonably suitable flights (understanding the bookings can be...

    YakPay Referral Program

How much evidence of an active business is required to sign up? I think we have an old ABN lying around from when Mrs Aus ATC did some multi-level marketing years ago. I would like use this (Yak Pay) to pay off a HECS debt and get some points in the process...

Air NZ 'Touch of Gold' status match

I don't think this can hurt - even if only for 1 x trip across the ditch, which we were thinking of planning anyway. Just opens up the flight options (beyond QF/JQ) while still getting lounge access (assuming they are open by then).

Long wait for refund for cancelled reward flights Qantas - a common experience?

Opposite problem here - we recently cancelled the 2nd leg of an itinerary booked for my "aunt", after she flew the first leg. All points for the booking were promptly refunded. No sign of the fines/taxes being refunded yet, but at this stage I'm not inclined to chase it up. For the moment I am...

Virgin Australia Discover Gold (Status Match)

Has anyone achieved the Discovery Gold target and gifted a Gold membership yet? I reached the target a couple of days ago - my review date is still 29th May 2021, and I can't see a means to gift the companion gold. Do I have to wait till my review date, or do I need to call? Advice appreciated.

Government to halve flight prices in $1.2bn tourism plan

Not exactly, but they haven't missed increasing the fares either (before the 50% reduction). In my case a flight to Adelaide was $231 a couple of hours ago, but was selling at "1/2 price" for $128 - so a mark up of $25.00 for QF. Didn't stop me booking it though - we were going anyway. Virgin...
