AMEX Application Process Failures + Contact

Long story short, they have no obligation to approve you for a product. Every institution has extensive lending criteria - these are under lock and key - and they will not provide you with specific reasoning for why you were rejected. Your "credit score" doesn't mean much of anything in...

Amex "I'm going to cancel my card" - bonus points given thread.

Amex Explorer, 10 year member, 4-5k monthly spend. AF not due until April. Have been baiting them for an upgrade offer for years, nothing received, so I took up the Westpac Altitude bonus offer recently with every intention of leaving Amex. To my surprise they offered 80k points to retain...

Further Status Extension to 28 Feb 2023

Received my Gold extension, next review date is 28 Feb 2023. Haven't flown since Oct 2019. New member card is in the mail.

anyone have any info on when virgin will be opening up flights to USA?

Correct. I wouldn't expect to see VA metal servicing LAX until 2023. The Delta partnership should resume once int'l travel opens in both directions.

Card Promotions ANZ Rewards Black - 180k points, Zero fee first year

It somehow got worse after the clusterf**k of an application process. ANZ blocked payments, didn't notify me, and then when I tried to call them to rectify I found there weren't even customer service staff on shift (middle of the day). That's how they treat their premium CC customers? No...

Card Promotions ANZ Rewards Black - 180k points, Zero fee first year

My application was quite long and painful. Namely because they never called at the day/time they asked me to nominate, and I'd always be on another call/meeting when they eventually did. That process repeated for just over a month before they dropped it and just approved me anyway.

Further Status Extension to 28 Feb 2023

I received the Gold 28 Feb '23 extension. Hard to be mad when I haven't boarded VA metal in over 18 months. I'm a fan of flexible anniversary. I'm also a fan of clean legible post formatting. I guess it's true that there's no accounting for taste!

    VA-X & win

If only VX were still around, and VA had plans for int'l routes...so much lost opportunity on the VA-X concept.

Amex "I'm going to cancel my card" - bonus points given thread.

Ended up accepting the Essential card, and received a offer to upgrade to Explorer this week (40k bonus points) which I accepted. Was advised to lodge a complaint with AFCA around not being re-credited for 2 years of bonus flights. Amex's response was $700 statement credit + 20k points.

Successful QF 'Bid Now Upgrades' data thread

$200 (0 points) accepted for SYD-CFS T-6 hrs. This is my first QF flight in 15 years. Does business come with lounge access? The eligibility on their website is is completely unintelligible.

VA to Extend status for Some until 30th September 2022

Booked a flight for March but ended up cancelling, yet somehow qualified for this 18 month Gold extension. They'd already confirmed I'd been extended to my 2022 review day (May), but I'll take the extra few months!

No VA flights to Coffs after April 2021? - Now Back in November

Yikes. This will have a considerable impact on a tourism-dependent region. I flew CFS-SYD-CFS weekly with VA for a number of years, up to 2016, and pax load certainly weren't an issue. I understand it's likely a very different picture since Covid, and admittedly I've not been back so much in...

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

The economy menu doesn't inspire much, but it doesn't need to. It's hardly a strong revenue stream, and most folks will grab a meal before or after a flight if they're hungry. Staying away from perishables will help with cost control. The business menu is serviceable, and ensures that they're...

Virgin Australia launches 'coronavirus status extension' plan

I would disagree. Sure, borders are open and flights are available, but many businesses remain grounded. I'll take a stab and suggest that very few of us reach or maintain status on domestic leisure travel alone. Checked with VA this week and thankfully they'll be extending my status through...

Amex "I'm going to cancel my card" - bonus points given thread.

My Velocity Platinum annual fee posts this week. Just called, spoke to O/S call centre, no offer on my account. 😭 10yr member, $35k-$40k annual spend, have never requested or received a retention offer in the past. Card cancellation processed, and they then tried to sell me on the Essential...

Claim share of 5 million points by transferring from flybuys to Velocity

The wholesale value of points has always been 2:1, so whenever they ran uplift promos in the past they were simply supplying them at cost. Virgin's expense for those campaigns was limited to marketing/awareness. With the baseline redemption value now at wholesale - a move that's in line with...

SHAME Virgin -- Memo to the brass - COVID is still out there. [Wear Masks!]

How is this different to any consumer-facing environment right now? I'm all for opening a discussion and expressing reasonable concern, but this post is nothing but Karen levels of alarmist outrage.

Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

Your disdain for marketing implies that you probably work in sales 😂 They're just putting their best foot forward. Every business does this every day. No deception, just communicating that flight redemptions have reopened. Simples.

Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

I can't emphasise enough that gift cards are not cash. They carry unique numbers which the distributor (who Collinson outsources to) keeps a record of against each order - this allows them to be suspended/cancelled/replaced when required. Non-delivery (whether lost or stolen) is very, very low...

Virgin Australia enter Voluntary Administration - Impact on Amex cards?

You can still apply for the VFF cards via their product pages; Amex have just removed all links and references to these products which I would imagine is an interim measure.
