I'm going to Sardinia. The options are transfer to Gatwick and go direct to Olbia or I fly Heathrow to Fiumicino and then another flight to Olbia. I try to avoid Rome airport at all cost (and that cost is having to fly EasyJet)

I've actually since has a couple of private car options recommended to me - both around the 60-70 pound mark. Given the bus is going to be 50 between us, I think an extra 10/20 is worth spending. (providing the car turns up that is!)

I just blew 840k (2x 420k) on a trip to LHR and back with a few stops here and there in first class in June/July next year. I think that's the way to go, especially when you consider how cheap an economy ticket is compared to the price of a first class ticket.
