International Flex Fare = Saver Conditions For Changes

Not in my case. Both Saver and Flex were available in both directions. I paid extra for more flexible conditions that were never actually available. if Qantas wanted to do the right thing, they would prevent such a configuration from being purchased in the first place…

International Flex Fare = Saver Conditions For Changes

Yep - right at the very bottom if you scroll far enough. Thanks. Still seems very unethical to take people’s extra money for the higher class segments, but I’m just gonna have to suck it up…

International Flex Fare = Saver Conditions For Changes

Wow - it doesn’t seem reasonable you can pay extra to purchase different fare classes, yet will never get the benefits of the more flexible conditions. Do you know where this is specified and has this always been the case? Is it the same for domestic as well?

International Flex Fare = Saver Conditions For Changes

Hi AFFers, I booked a Saver (K) for the forward leg but paid extra for Flex (H) on the return. The fare conditions for the Flex showed no change fee, but I tried to alter it and was going to be charged $125, which was the fee listed for the Saver. I rang the call centre and they advised that...

Tricky Upgrade Situation - Separate Bookings

It’s $2.2K extra in total across both airfares, including the extra $200 one way tax for each forward leg. It would’ve been nice, as the last time I got to use points I outright booked J rewards flights for 3 of us to NRT, but if you reckon I’ve got Buckley’s this time around, then perhaps I’ll...

Tricky Upgrade Situation - Separate Bookings

Hi Gurus, I am looking to fly to LHR in Jul with a family member who will be returning after me. Because of the different return times I cannot book both return flights under the one booking. I could book both return flights separately and then have them linked so we would sit together on the...

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Appreciate the analysis and suggestions. I don’t fly a lot anymore and when I do, it’s normally been with QF which you can’t transfer the points to. I’ve used them for hotel stays in the past so that could be an option. To be honest I’m just accumulating QFF and MR points with no real plans for...

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

I am. The Green Amex doesn’t - it’s 1:1 for ATO payments. And 1.5:1 for everything else. So do you think it makes sense under both scenarios, or only if I claim the surcharge as a deduction?

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

I’m pretty sure the ATO software looks at trends, so if all of a sudden I claim 100x more than normal, it could trigger something…

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Hi AFFers - I have just discovered my lowly Green Amex charge card earns 1.5 pts for all purchases except govt where it is 1.0 pt. No cap. I’ve been ignoring this for years in favour of using Platinum Edge but certainly won’t be in the future for anything other than supermarkets / petrol...

adverse zone changes under new system

My flights in and out of ADL are always probably >80% full as well. I hadn't actually picked up on the reduction in points earned - now I'm even more pissed off!

adverse zone changes under new system

I'm based in ADL and do all my flying domestically on FlexiSavers to maintain status. For me it's a massive 30% reduction in SC earn which will now have me struggling to maintain Platinum: ADL-SYD drops from 30 down to 20 ADL-PER drops from 40 down to 30 Not happy!

Epic Fail - Virgin's Special Platinum Treatment

Judging from some of the responses, I either haven't explained myself very well, or people haven't read my post properly before jumping in to condemn me and/or defend Virgin. I was fine until I was told the bookings weren't linked and we weren't sitting together. When I went back later to...

Epic Fail - Virgin's Special Platinum Treatment

Virgin are trying to capture a large slice of the corporate market so this means treating their higher status pax well. In my case I have only attained Platinum with them though a status match. Based on what I have experienced, they have just lost any chance of me moving my flying over to them...

Qantas Domestic - Reduction In Onboard Crew & Inflight Service

Apart from the ice cream of course, I used to save them for later, as with the time zone difference, especially during daylight saving, it helped to fill the longer than usual gap (when flying west of course) before the next meal when on the run.

Qantas Domestic - Reduction In Onboard Crew & Inflight Service

Unfortunately I think it's the new norm as it's happened to me twice now.

Qantas Domestic - Reduction In Onboard Crew & Inflight Service

In my experience things have now changed for the worse from that scenario - absolutely nothing after the main meal - no cheese or crackers, ice cream, or muesli bar (or similar). You even need to ask for juice in the morning now.

Qantas Domestic - Reduction In Onboard Crew & Inflight Service

Good idea, as I've already experienced it once in SYD. At that stage it was before I had spoken with the FA and so I was wondering what was going on, as it certainly is beneficial when it's implemented correctly. Re two queues, one person, it should be a no brainer!

Qantas Domestic - Reduction In Onboard Crew & Inflight Service

I'd noticed the meal getting smaller but now the after snacks have completely disappeared. I just thought I'd missed it due to nodding off but I confirmed with a colleague on the same flights that they never arrived.

Qantas 747 - First vs Business Seating Difference?

Pardon my ignorance, but are you saying if there is an F cabin, the Skybeds in J are the Mk I ones which don't fully recline to horizontal? Just checking for future reference re bookings. Are there many of these still left?
