    Gifts for cabin crew

I give my mechanic a bottle of red every Christmas, and the staff at my local coffee shop a box of chocolates. Is that weird? Maybe, but I spent 14 years working retail where Christmas had me thinking “bah humbug!” and sucking the joy out of it. Giving a small gift to say Merry Christmas, makes...

    Gifts for cabin crew

Sadly, I have to fly Y, but that hasn’t deterred me; after all I have flight attendants working hard down the back too so I’m sure they’re appreciative of the small gesture too. One flight attendant came down for a chat and said she’d never experienced such a gesture in her years of flying...

    Gifts for cabin crew

I hand over some choccies with a smile at boarding and let them know it’s for the crew to enjoy throughout the flight. I attach a little, handmade card with a quick note. I don’t expect anything in return, but I have received a lovely card signed by the entire crew, some wine and an amenities...

Where would you be now ... ?

I was hoping to be on my RTW "Graduation Trip" right now (November 1 - Dec 12), beginning with my visiting friends in the US (NYC & Atlanta), catching up with a photographer I assisted for several years, in London, returning to my mum's hometown in Chorley, Lancashire, hitting Berlin and a few...

Australian women on Qatar flight internally examined

While assumptions are being made about a "cover-up" taking place, maybe we can have a look at the media's response since these disgusting sexual assaults took place on the women involved. Not a day has gone by without me hearing the words "Examination" in the headline in almost every radio news...

    New Zealand Travel Bubble Announcement

One has to wonder if we had to provide proof of ID before boarding domestic flights, would this have occurred? Having said that, Mr Andrews's statement that they hadn't thought of this occurring really takes the cake. Who the heck is in charge over there - one would think that an ability to...

What's the best travel upgrade you've received?

The one that remains the best for me was actually two. I was flying BKK-SYD (again) and running late for check-in due to gridlock and handed over my passport for the dreaded Y journey to Australia for Christmas. Was thrilled to get an upgrade to Y+ as that meant I might actually get some sleep...

Could it be adios Neil Perry?

Still attempting to work that out myself . . . ;) I don't, but if NP is the epitome of their idea of "fine fare", it couldn't get any worse . . . could it?

Could it be adios Neil Perry?

Never enjoyed the J menu (when I travelled) and to say that Y was "inspired" by NP was a grossly overstated; if that's what he inspires heaven help us!

    Coronavirus (COVID-19) Panic Buying?

Yup, I shop at the local Foodland and our local Drakes - another SA produce lover, with Coles & Woolies taking up the slack. Can't remember the last time I purchased C home-brand stuff, but I just picked up some Woolies HB drinking chocolate which isn't too bad, bummer it's not Aussie made, but...

    Coronavirus (COVID-19) Panic Buying?

My comment was based upon the continued assurances by our own manufacturers here in Australia, that we have ample in stock and won't run out - what really p****s me off though, is that we make the stuff here in SA, but it gets shipped to the eastern states before it gets supplied to us, and we...

    Coronavirus (COVID-19) Panic Buying?

Up there with their paper bags . . . also made in China. Their excuse was pretty poor, seeing as they've been running their "trial" for a few months. If we can get ourselves up and running to make masks from zero, surely somone like Detmold (already do packaging!!) could start making paper bags...

    What's your favourite 747 memory?

My very first overseas flight as a 7-year-old, was on a Qantas 747 in the Retro Roo livery. It was 1977 so they were relatively new aircraft back then; I'll will never forget being taken to the coughpit as it flew from PER-LHR, and sitting in the First Officer's seat as a lightning storm cracked...

Why doesn't the Qantas website work in Safari?

Not had any issues with Safari per se, but definitely PayPal and Telstra NBN. That's helped with my PayPal issue and does appear to be much faster with website loading - thanks! :)

Will you vaccinate with Conoravirus vaccine when one is available?

Having caught whooping cough as a 13-year-old, I can honestly say I wouldn't wish it on anyone; coughing until you burst all the blood vessels in your eyes and coughing until you vomit while not being able to breathe at the same time is a frightening experience - on a few occasions I was...

Will you vaccinate with Conoravirus vaccine when one is available?

The flu shot doesn't necessarily mean you won't get the flu, just that it's less severe if you do. Additionally, I believe the flu strain is different every year - just because I got the jab this year, doesn't mean I'm protected next year, hence the push for people to get vaccinated every year...

Will you vaccinate with Conoravirus vaccine when one is available?

A colleague made enquiries last Thursday regarding travel for business in the coming months and was informed that they would be permitted to leave, however, upon their return, they would "foot the entire bill of their required 14-day quarantine in a hotel of the Dept's choice." This includes...

How many countries have you visited?

On that criteria, I can safely say "yes" - visited several times when I was living in London and Bangkok. :)

How many countries have you visited?

Just thinking about passport stamps as an indicator of visiting, the Schengen Area kind of defeats this these days, as I've been stamped into one country and travelled through the others with no additional stamps when you cross borders within this group of countries and stamped out when I left...
