Not exactly a newbie question, but don't want to start a whole thread... Flying MEL->LAX on UA, do I have lounge access in Melbourne with Velocity Gold? I'm not quite sure based on the available information.

ANZ travel don't manage the bookings any more, so you ring Vigin direct - I did it 2 weeks ago. Sorted out on the phone within a few minutes, flight cancelled and credit in to travel bank for use within 12 months.

Strangely didn't seem to work for the Cathay HKG-TLV route. But otherwise I really like that they have that calculator available!

I thought the same - but I doubt it. I don't think they would refund the fee if you have already booked you flight. Similarly I don't think that the fee refund is linked in any way to the benefits of the card, to be honest their systems are probably not integrated well enough to handle that...

I called ANZ today and asked for an annual fee refund for the card. The agreed to refund the $220 annual fee portion of the fees, but not the $110 "Rewards" fee. But still, better than nothing and given I paid it back in January it was worth the phone call for sure.

Availability, even for paid flights, is so bad that it looks like I'll be going mostly on Turkish via a MEL-CGK-IST-TLV out, TLV-IST-BKK-MEL back with some long layovers. At least in business though, so that's better. To get some status and miles I have signed up to Asiana.

Thanks levelnine. If I can generate a status level from a single trip, then status. If not, then it's just points. I will be concentrating most miles with VA going forward, but I don't think there is a route option from MEL-TLV that really supports this.

My Earth Black cards expire at the end of October, and I have just received replacement Earth Black cards. They are valid until 10/2018. I have an ok deal ($75 yearly fee), and don't see any need to swap to another card type.
