ya, thanks sorry for the poor explanation. yes I have Platinum Edge now - was thinking of moving to to the Amex Platinum Velocity.. It cost $395 (velocity) vs $195 (edge) ... Also I guess the Velocity Amex card has less flexible points - only Velocity... I can't really see the reason...

Any thoughts on this? Is the Velocity Platinum 100 status credits EVERY YEAR? or only the first year? I have Edge now, but thinking of moving across really only for the status credits.. is this stupid? ($200 more per year, but i'll probably get Gold with the extra 100)

I just got upgraded to Gold, the Velocity site said i was a few points off (490+ points). Anyone know why this would happen?

I need to go to Austin, Texas - March 4 to ~March 14. I'd prefer to go in business if i can upgrade with points. I can see IWTF flights for ~$1500 , presumably in discount economy - so that probably won't work. I have 120,000+ Velocity points (and SG) that i would like to upgrade to business...

any suggestions on the best way to get from Adelaide to Singapore recently took Singapore Airlines, i think it is an a330 - pretty painful overnight. I am guessing i'd have to go thru MEL to hopefully snag a different plane?
