    The Virgin Empire

Virgin Little Red (UK) is (shortly to be was) a wetleased operation. The planes are red tailed in Virgin livery, but the aircraft belong to Aer Lingus (EI). All fights carry a VS flight number (and no EI flight number as EI are not a codeshare partner of VS). The crews are distinct from VS...

Velocity Platinum members can now access EY Diamond First Class lounges

Went through 2 weeks ago with me (1 × Plat) Mrs adl73x (1 x Gold) and 2 children (red) under 11. The problem is the Gold counts for nought, only having access to the Al Reem in another terminal, so we all get relegated to that.

VA Plat experience on Virgin Atlantic flights

Not long haul, but I've been using VS UK domestic services "Little Red" as a VA Plat since they started flying in April. On board there is no status recognition at all, but it's a single cabin service and the staff are all very friendly. Groundside at LHR T1, MAN, and EDI you get the full...

    Velocity website down

Haven't been able to log in for the last two days. Always returning "Unfortunately this request could not be processed.". I find this suspiciously conincident with the single sign on that was announced earlier this week. Of course, what I have now is No Sign On :(

How long do points/SCs take to credit?

I'm not sure how long VS is supposed to take to post. I've taken 6 VS flights between 10 April 2013 and 22 April 2013 - none have posted points nor SCs. Retro claims logged. No action there either.

    VS commences UK domestic services

Well, six weeks of VS Little Red flying the UK skies and not one of my 7 sectors has posted to Velocity. The on board experience is great - much more comfortable than BA. Velocity WP gets Fastrack Security access in both London and Edinburgh. Priority Boarding happens more often than not...

    VS commences UK domestic services

I will try Little Red next week. Not too fussed about the lounges: the VA Plat isn't going to get me anywhere the Priority Pass couldn't, and that is rarely very far above nothing at all.

    Amex trims points earnings

I got a letter last week confirming the points dropping on the Gold Charge, so sorry to be be the bearer of bad tidings. I only use my Gold Charge and Plat Edge cards for phone and Internet, so they just became a lot less useful to me.

Virgin Money Credit Card - self-employed

I'm not self-employed - in fact I've worked for the same company for 15 years, and have no problem getting Amexes or Visa cards from other institutions, and have no debt, but Virgin Money have given me 4 weeks of the third degree for a Flyer card: wanting multiple verifications for every source...

DJ Appreciation Run Nov 19 BNE MEL CBR SYD ADL

I'm on the 19:00 SYD BNE Formerly Known As the 18:00 SYD BNE. It's very wet in Sydney. Glad you had fun. I'm liking the SYD Lounge, but it could do with a cake enhancement.

DJ Appreciation Run Nov 19 BNE MEL CBR SYD ADL

Sorry I didn't make the ADL dinner. By pure coincidence I was in ADL on 19/11 and was grateful for Storyteller's invitation. Now in the Lounge ADL for ADL-SYD-BNE. Should be back to Plat before I get back to the UK. THANK YOU DJ - it has been a blast!:p

    moved back from UK

Some things to consider between continuing to credit to BA or switching to QF: To keep your BA Gold status you will need 4 sectors on a BA marketed flight - QF will count for Tier Points but not for eligible sectors. If you fly domestically a lot in Australia, not all fares will count for BA...

BA executive club or qantas frequent flyer program?

With the recent changes (oct 2010) BA flights earn 100% mileage even in discount economy (like AA), but being based in Europe you will also have the shortcut to status with BA. Only 400 Tier Credits to Silver (OW Sapphire), 800 to Gold (OW Emerald). Once you have status on BA, the status...

So... what car do you guys drive when not flying?

I don't. No point owning a car if I'm always going to be somewhere it isn't. Besides, one of great challenges in life is bending the world's public transport systems to my will :)

Message left to me by the lady in seat 4F

There is a FlyerTalk game that goes on in United's Inflight Mag. Each flyer leaves their FlyerTalk tag and the website address in the mag for each sector they fly. The goal is to attract new people to the site and to connect existing ones.

Virgin Blue & Priority Pass Lounge Access Ending Aug 1 2011

re: Virgin Blue & Priority Pass Lounge Access Ending July 14th 2011 I do hope not. I love using the DJ lounge in BNE through PP when flying QF!

Should I stay with Qantas FF or move to BA?

Living as you do in the UK, you will probably be better off with BA. BA doesn't have lifetime status like QF, but as a UK resident with BA Executive Club you will get: * Better mileage and mileage status bonuses on BA flights. * Parallel miles earning opportunities like Tesco which...

    Best Star Alliance Program

If *A status is your primary goal, then Aegean , a new *A member, is probably the easiest to achieve. Only 25,000 miles required for *A Gold with no requirement to actually fly on Aegean. TK and AC are also good at around 35,000 miles for status. BD is probably not long for this world at...

    Expiry of KrisFlyer points

I think for programs with time-based expiry that is not fixed term miles validity like SQ, it can be useful to know what the "heartbeat" options are to keep them alive. With QF the easiest one now is a Woolworths everyday rewards card, which given I can buy stuff online at Woolies from the UK...

    Expiry of KrisFlyer points

The impact of the expiry depends entirely on the frequency and class of your pattern of flying. If you fly infrequently, programs with any expiry are not going to let you save for a rainy day. NZ, SQ, both have these, although NZ do not expire if you maintain Gold or higher. I do fly a...
