Current F Lounge Menu (SYD/MEL) and relevant topics

As predicted, no invite to the special area in SYD yesterday as I was flying BA F. The average champagne offering of Piper ran out after my first glass, this was at about 1pm. Guess the Monday morning fliers drank more than expected.

Current F Lounge Menu (SYD/MEL) and relevant topics

Thanks. I'll report back if my experience is any different. I guess the trade-off is the roped-off area at SYD First versus the Concorde Room at T5 LHR on the way back home.

Current F Lounge Menu (SYD/MEL) and relevant topics

To answer my own question, unless anyone else has actual experience to suggest otherwise, yes it appears that travel-class eligibility for the roped-off section and special menu is just for QF First. Passengers on other OneWorld First flights aren't included in the special list. I'm there...

Current F Lounge Menu (SYD/MEL) and relevant topics

I presume just QF First? On my last visit to the Sydney lounge we were flying BA First and were seated by an attendant in the 'general' section, so I presume the special seating and menu are only for those on QF metal?

    Qantas research panel

I don't know there's anywhere you can find the balance of your QC membership, I just remember mine had 9 months remaining when I first made it to Gold. The QC Terms & Conditions allow for a pro-rate refund to your estate in the event that you die before the end of your membership year, or...

Our policy is we either book economy flights or give staff the equivalent cash allowance to book their own flights in whatever class they like (or even to use their own points and keep the cash if they prefer). We also pay for annual QC membership but only a couple of staff would really do more...

Don’t hold your breath for that refund. I have 9 months of paid QC that’s been on hold since I first reached SG, in about 2002. I didn’t drop back below that level and then hit LTG in 2010. I don’t think my refund is ever coming…

    F Options Through Asia (OneWorld)

Many thanks everyone - the first hand knowledge here is always amazing! I think I’ll explore JL from JFK-HND, getting to SIN on the JL F service if possible then SIN-SYD on BA or QF.

    F Options Through Asia (OneWorld)

To be fair I haven't flown international J (NZ doesn't count) for 5+ years so I don't have any recent experience on that front. That said it's also about not wanting to pay for a First fare but only be able to book Business on any of the longer legs. Thanks for the suggestion, will check it...

    F Options Through Asia (OneWorld)

Can anyone provide any suggestions on routes between the US - SE Asia - Australia that still have First on OneWorld carriers? I’m planning a US trip (NY) and my go-to pre covid used to be booking an ACIR26 with a stopover in HKG on the way there. These days however it seems none of the OW...

    Made any travel mistakes lately?

I went against my better judgement and didn't push the point when a colleague suggested we book on Jetstar to get a team of 4 (including myself) back from BNE to CBR this afternoon. Went about as well as can be expected from Jetstar: • Discover that Jetstar bag drop is on the opposite end of...

A380 first class Syd to LHR

Only found one blurry photo from that trip - this is the "Babyskåp - baby cupboard with storage net".

A380 first class Syd to LHR

It’s been a while since we did this trip (our youngest is 9) but we found the bassinet at 5A to be fairly useless. Our daughter was 6 months old at the time, it was just too deep and scary for her to actually settle, and when the seatbelt sign was turned on we were supposed to put a giant...

    General EV Discussion

We have a Porsche Taycan, which would have to be the worlds least efficient electric car. Massive 94kWh battery, about 320km highway cruising range. Last year we took it from Canberra to the Gold Coast for a couple of days away. The 1150km trip each way took 13 hours elapsed time door to door...

Veterans to receive Priority Boarding & "thank you for your service"

I flew QF CBR-MEL last Monday, in J. There were about 6 J seats spare after the doors closed, and the FAs went down the aisles and upgraded a number of Korean War veterans who had been in Canberra over the weekend for a memorial service. They also made specific mention of them during the in...

IPad Pro 12.9 inch and note taking with Apple Pencil - opinions

I use Notability with an Apple Pencil on the smaller iPad Pro. For general note taking it works well, my only grievances are: * When adding drawings / annotations next to typed notes the drawings don’t flow with the text. If I add more text at the top of the note then the text flows down but...

“Incident At International” SYD Fri 15/6/18

If so, that’s a bit rough if Qantas are using the chemical discovery issue (something genuinely out of their hands) to cover up a different failing. As has been said however, at least they let people know and suggested they take food / coffee from the lounge rather than having them find out on...

“Incident At International” SYD Fri 15/6/18

It’s odd indeed, no obvious signs of any issues and no delays at international transfer as far as I can tell. Will see whether my flight has any catering issues - though it’s a Q400 to CBR so there’s not really any catering anyway.

“Incident At International” SYD Fri 15/6/18

I’m currently in the QF Business lounge in Sydney, they’re making announcements that all flights ex-Sydney this morning will have nil catering due to an “incident at International” (their words). Anyone know more?

A very long run comes to an end...

It seems odd to resurrect this thread after such a long while, but I can finally report that my Lifetime Gold membership card has arrived. It only took a bit over 5 months for Qantas to send me a new card - and in the end that only happened because I tried to use the Qantas Cash part of my old...
