Walked into the OW lounge, walked straight out. While no food option, I always use the AA lounge - at that time it is near empty, always a spare shower, good drink options with the coupons you get from the AAngels.

Highly recommend visiting the 6th floor museum in downtown dallas. I'm a political and history nut but can spend at least a couple of hours in there and surrounding area.

Been plenty of times where I have gone to the airport early and asked AA for an earlier flight. When explained the tight connection, they have always been happy to accommodate if there's a spare seat. Worth a shot. Either way, I think you should be fine.

My advice would be to put the request in writing to QF as you have done with VA. Sometimes better than just getting someone who is at the end of a 10 hour shift on the phones.
