Even when there is a surcharge on the Amex, if the points you earn outweigh the surcharge, then I still go for the Amex! I mean, I used to do it when the introductory 3 points per $ was being offered, not anymore alas!

I recently attempted to transfer my amex points to my partner's krisflyer account - apparetnly it is not possible. Instead, I registered my partner through my krisflyer as a nominated family member, transfered all the amex points to my krisflyer and booker her a ticket!
