    Qantas booking cancellation (under covid19)

(I had written a very long and tedious post about this whole thing but removed it on reflection ) ). I will just write this. Removing a "Refund" button from a web page generated in the frontend (the website) is relatively trivial. That is not a function of the backend. Changing in bulk expiry...

    Qantas booking cancellation (under covid19)

(for reference Darwin is DRW and Perth is PER) I would still leave it. It's hardly likely they are finished with flight cancels... however given the unreasonable timing of the return sector you probably have some grounds to call and request a refund as that schedule change is not acceptable?

    Qantas booking cancellation (under covid19)

Re working with developers "West of Perth" :D that raises another issue... one of difficulty with change management and delays. Some years back I worked for a major Oz Telco in a role involving systems sizing, capacity planning and the like. At that point I worked for a contract consulting...

    Qantas booking cancellation (under covid19)

ALso programming on top of legacy systems is not something just anyone can do, and I doubt it's something that could be worked out in mere hours. Remember QF almost certainly will have stood down a lot of their staff in IT as much as other areas of the carrier to save costs. I know a number of...

    Qantas booking cancellation (under covid19)

tbh I've always thought that the restriction on credit vouchers that they are bound by the original fare rules and thus one must "buy up" using a voucher to be pretty crappy. I had always wondered if that was a technical limited or a policy one. Probably policy, but it is hard to know. Thinking...

    Qantas booking cancellation (under covid19)

Very interesting indeed. Thank you. I suspect this is easier with a "live" booking in the system vs a credit voucher created from a PNR (specially as we all know QF's implementation is a real kludge unlike using an off the shelf product from the GDS - if one exists on Amadeus).

    Qantas booking cancellation (under covid19)

OK but you understand that all of that stuff was decided and worked on way before any of this stuff (ie CV) descended, put a lot of people out of work and the focus on a company like QF into other areas. I am NOT defending QF but trying to be realistic about the situation. Just because of the...

    Qantas booking cancellation (under covid19)

Sure, but implementation? It would be a nightmare I would imagine... And it's not like any company, let alone QF, has idle resources sitting around to do niche things like this. and while I grant that many people have been forced to put off trips to various places for reasons raging from...

    Qantas booking cancellation (under covid19)

Walloper - two thoughts on your J trip to LAX. 1. I would wait till a) flight is cancelled and/or b) QF extends the voucher/refund date (it seems fairly certain they will have to). That way you should be able to get a refund 2. I think it is likely fairly certain than WHEN (not if :) ) things...

Qantas doesn't care about priority boarding

I wonder what the mix of status pax to regular is anyway at this point in time. Given the overall loads are going to be less and less for all the reasons we're well aware of... I can see both "sides" of it. I'm more for the notion that in this situation just board the 20 pax and not worry too...

Qantas extends current status for 12 months

I have been warned? I'm sorry how bloody arrogant of you. Telling people to leave thread and the like. Who the hell do you think you are??? Will a REAL moderator please remove all these posts (including mine). That would be appropriate. I have followed the appropriate procedure and reported...

Qantas extends current status for 12 months

Don't disagree as I commented the other day. My comment was about implementation of such. QFF is such a mess during normal times built on legacy systems that it's probably a minor miracle they're able to process status extensions at all :) I mean seriously we all know how poor they can be...

Qantas extends current status for 12 months

Personal opinion. No. "Incorrectly believe" (your view on their OPINION).. how can they be dishonest with a personal opinion? It's valid and true to them. This argument is silly and undermines the rest of your argument IMO. This is so full of your personal opinion AND judgement using words...

Qantas extends current status for 12 months

There is another side of this coin. Consider if your status year ends 30 November. Brilliant.. whammo you've had status extended until November 30, 2021. Say you're Platinum. Any SC's earned between now and 30 November this year become more or less worthless, excepting to add to lifetime...

Qantas extends current status for 12 months

I very much agree with you here. I've come to think of it as people "Winning (more or less so)" from the extension. It's a better outcome for everyone than it was before the change. I get some sour grapes that it seems unfair that some get those extra months of status. I understand it. I think...

Answered QANTAS Airline Initiated Cancellation of DSC Flight

Welcome Belindabee. "DSC" stands for Double Status Credits - ie a booking made eligible under the recent (Feb, seems like a year ago!) Double Status Credits promotion. hope that helps :)

Global Qantas Double Status Credits Offer (Book 20-26 Feb 2020; Fly: 28 Feb 2020-14 Feb 2021)

Yes, so have I because I have been careful about the way I've done it. My point was that at any time this little "feature" could change. I wasn't saying it doesn't work now. Every year this comes up I have been confident about it and not surprised when it works but I am also aware that QF know...

Answered QANTAS Airline Initiated Cancellation of DSC Flight

by all means dream. I am a past master of dreaming for unobtainable things :D I just hope people would not seriously expect something like this (and potentially get upset if it doesn't happen). Each to their own.

Answered QANTAS Airline Initiated Cancellation of DSC Flight

I'm sorry but... seriously? No. This is not a reasonable expectation. At least in my opinion This is literally wanting your cake and eating it too.. with double toppings added too. I think QF's latest change to extend the credit vouchers will 31 Dec 21 is very very generous. To expect a...

Qantas extends current status for 12 months

Well now that's a little TOO simple and fair lol. The problem with that idea is technical I reckon. That would mean basically resetting everyone's anniversary date which may or may not be a set field in their system (as in Join date). We know that QF already has processes in place to manually...
