    Amex point conversions

TG isn’t a bad option if you specifically want to fly Thai Airways (and in the next few years). It’s also the last chance to transfer Amex points to Thai as this option gets removed in the devaluation. https://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/thai-royal-orchid-plus-improvements/

"Coffee tax" creeping into IHG hotels

A pet peeve at many Hilton hotels in Australia & New Zealand is the extra charge for barista coffee when having breakfast. You can get filter/machine coffee for free but get slugged $5 for a barista-made flat white, latte or cappuccino. I mostly stay with IHG, Accor and Radisson hotels and...

    Amex point conversions

Qatar Airways/British Airways (for Avios) or Cathay would be my top choices. Virgin Atlantic could be worth considering as well if you want to fly to Vietnam or Indonesia (for the great availability and reasonable business reward pricing on SkyTeam partners Vietnam Airlines and Garuda).

    Ask The Pilot

@AviatorInsight mentioned to me recently that you feel the effects of turbulence more strongly when sitting at the back of the plane. And also that the ride is smoother on a 737-8 MAX compared to a 737-800. I was wondering if you could expand a bit more on why this is the case?

Have you flown to every destination in an airline's route network?

I can imagine that if Qantas offered 500,000 points for flying to everywhere on their network, a whole lot of AFFers would suddenly start appearing in Paraburdoo, Weipa and Moranbah 😂

Have you flown to every destination in an airline's route network?

Haha - well that is more achievable, I guess! I don't think I have though - am yet to fly BNE-WLG or BNE-CHC.

What's your favourite big city destination?

To complete the trilogy of threads I've started this morning (see here), what's your favourite place to visit if you want to experience a big, bustling city? My personal favourite is Berlin, but New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore all come to mind as well as places I really enjoy.

What's your favourite beach holiday destination?

Following on from this thread: https://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/threads/whats-your-favourite-holiday-destination-for-spending-time-in-nature.121640/ I'll ask a different question here. Where would be your ideal destination for a relaxing beach/resort holiday? If I had to...

What's your favourite holiday destination for spending time in nature?

People often ask me what my favourite destination is. It's really hard to answer this because I like lots of different places for different reasons. Like, if you wanted a city holiday, my recommendation would be totally different than if you wanted a beach resort holiday, or to spend time in...

Have you flown to every destination in an airline's route network?

Have you flown so much with a particular airline that you've flown (either on that airline or in general) to everywhere in their route network? I guess this would be easier to achieve on a smaller airline with fewer destinations. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any airline that I...

Waiting, waiting, waiting at SYD (and MEL) arrival immigration?

I arrived in SYD this morning and there were enough Smartgates to process everyone quite quickly. I actually thought to myself that it had improved since my last morning arrival at SYD T1.

Cathay now also bans OW FF from pre-selecting seats

Interesting that you were able to switch from your CX to your QF number. Perhaps I should have put my CX number down originally on a recent booking that I made where I want to upgrade with Asia Miles but credit the flights to QF. @exLXCXFF can you choose a seat if you put down a CX number...
