Indeed, quite apart from not making bomb jokes, while us frequent flyers might like the jokes and it can take the tension out of the chaos and delays, there are some first-time, nervous or stressed flyers who won't find them funny at all.

I've had no problems accessing the Qatar and Cathay lounges there a couple of months ago flying QF business.

Probably not flying QF somehow, and the CL doesn't provide anytime access any more? Not that I've been in the Beyond lounge there but that's closed down.
