    Jetstar B787 Reliability Issues

All 787s now back in Australia it seems, hopefully a clear run through peak, it appears they have a spare up their sleeve looking at the schedules over peak.

    Jetstar B787 Reliability Issues

VKJ back today after a month in HKG. Back in service this arvo. Interesting that they are getting some work done prior to entering a heavy check next year. Must have some serious issues to fix.

JQ Avalon expansion. DPS/ADL/BNE double daily.

Smart I guess. The overall seat count across the Melbourne Basin into Bali won’t change on JQs end, but they pickup a whole bunch of assumed funding and subsidies, so overall seat cost should come down. Remains to be seen what the taxpayer gains but that’s a story for another day.

JQ Avalon expansion. DPS/ADL/BNE double daily.

I spoke too soon in the other thread. March next year . I somewhat believe this would be a deal with the Victorian Government considering the last Avalon deal is expiring, and that big terminal is sitting idle. The last 10 year deal with Labor ends this year. I wonder where the bilaterals are...

    Everyday Rewards Targeted Offers

First big offer in around a year. $20 over weekly spend but will just build up on basics.

A Complete, Updated List of Fifth-Freedom Routes

KLM is also on par cost wise in Y against the LCCs. I have always found SQ pricey for this route.

    Virgin are losing the plot.

I recall having those change issues months ago. I imagine it’s old IT and new IT not talking to each other and the fix is complex and costly. Seen that before in many corporates.

UPS MD11 crash on take-off in Kentucky

Just reported but unconfirmed that UPS and FedEx have grounded the MD11 fleet. Both make up a small number of the total fleet only around 5-7%. Needless to say we might see an acceleration in these getting retired, considering how little both both have left in the fleets with intentions to...

Virgin Economy X pricing depends on number of days until departure

$12 for an exit row seem good however.

Jetstar Asia to shutdown on 31 July 2025

These aircraft that have entered service have had a pretty patchy week, certainly didn’t get any major maintenance before entering service when looking at the downtime. Continued delays on one, another got stuck in Busselton, ferried back empty to Perth.

Flixbus One Way $9.99 Promo Fares (Melbourne, Albury, Canberra, Sydney)

Good for competition which is probably a bit stale here in terms of bus, don’t get me started on rail.

Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

Well they certainly will over hype this one, it’s a -1000 with an extra tank, it’s not the new space shuttle. Expect a monthly drip feed until launch to keep the free press going.

Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

Now will they get the interior and all the bells and whistles correct on the first go this time!

    Jetstar announces MCY-DPS-SIN

Indonesian based carriers have somewhat struggled with the brand recognition on this end to make any success out of service. Batik has built up a profile now, Air Asia Indonesia should have been a dominant player to the East Coast but failed miserably with the A330s. I think QZ will do well if...

    Jetstar announces MCY-DPS-SIN

Townsville to Bali? Avalon to Bali would be another one if they had not been tied to the capital bilaterals. They have a new International terminal just sitting idle, what a waste of money. Perhaps they should try and change that.

Skytrans to Operate Lord Howe Island Route from March 2026 - Take over from Qantaslink

Apparently they have a shortage of Sydney Captains, I see they have a job ad on seek also, so let’s hope they don’t run into schedule issues.

    Jetstar announces MCY-DPS-SIN

I can confirm that is the case. I took the JQ flight between SIN and DPS last year and it was an odd experience, Aussie Jetstar Pilots, Asian Crew, and pretty much all Euro passengers. The Cabin Manager was Aussie which was different, I assume was training somebody or covering sick.

Jetstar launches Various Routes for CNS/CHC/MCY/AKL/DUD/HZL/SYD/OOL

With a direct non stop, I’m not sure if the A321N is doable with a full load and cargo, MEL-SIN, but a 321XLR should be, and with Business being installed, it’s almost certain the route will end up with that aircraft. I remember the days when Tiger ran a MEL-DRW-SIN connecting TT and TR.

UPS MD11 crash on take-off in Kentucky

Another view. Wasn’t really much in the way of ground clearance on the extended centreline to put her down. I guess that raises another question, should all airports have an extended clear way on runway heading? Most are now littered with industrial estates or shopping centres.

Jetstar launches Various Routes for CNS/CHC/MCY/AKL/DUD/HZL/SYD/OOL

Can they do something like MEL/PER-SIN-BKK etc? I was just thinking some of the key 3K routes that they might want to tap into. SIN-DPS/BKK are two key routes.
