Given WY is in Oneworld now and this qf website says earn and redeem points on all oneworld member airlines, I think there is an obligation to allow earning of points for flying now. But this is QF after all, one might have to "earn" them by liaising with a service centre...

Exactly, I farewelled a family member on a 7pm flight last night and driving home thought geez this has come 8 hours early. Felt a bit like a spooky movie in our quiet cul de sac. Aforementioned family member wondered why he didn't see anything out the window just after takeoff.

I don't think there is a way to do that online via the manage my booking option, I've wondered that myself with a QR flight coming up. If they really need it before check in (unlikely I think with no travel via USA), they will contact you.
