Something I've done before is just check Google maps on the day I'd be travelling, so if you're flying on a Wednesday check what the traffic is like at 6am then maybe give yourself a few minutes leeway. From Beaudesert you're better off just driving and parking.

I flew LST-MEL-BNE, got the "Checked in at LST" notification shortly after check in and then about 20 minutes after being in the MEL lounge I got the "Checked in at MEL" notification. Didn't check the app after that as I was checking my Air Tag status instead.

Second the parmi, the one I had was delicious (as was the mash!).

I had two VA flights on Monday, one didn't have wifi, the other did (thankfully the longer MEL-BNE flight). I was in J so didn't have to pay and I streamed a movie on Prime and it worked well with only a couple of short buffers.

It's not ridiculous, it depends on preferences. I'd rather fly BNE-SIN/DOH/DXB-JFK than BNE-AKL-JFK.
