How feasible is it to request an international J release and then get a domestic connection added to it? Would this also add an additional ~25k points pp for the domestic J leg or is it combined under the one booking?

Beer selection, at least in BNE is actually really good. A few standard beers plus Green Beacon Wayfarer and Balter XPAs which is much better than what QF offer.

I don't disagree with the date and times in the terms, but some of their systems run off UTC and people have had trouble with DSC before when booking early in the first day so I'd personally avoid the +/-10hrs of the promotion period to be safe.

Everyone puts a different value on points, personally I only redeem them for international premium cabins so I would base it off 4c a point in my calculation. If you have a lot of points without much plan for redemption? If that's the case you could ask yourself if buying X status tier for X...

I can't remember the last time I've had a PDB on QF domestic J in the last 2-3 years, only international. VA still do them on every flight.

I ended up booking BNE>MEL>ADL>MEL>BNE to pick up 400SC at $5/SC and catch up with a mate. This will put me at 1410SC just in time for my 30-Nov review date 😎

There's a recent thread which should cover your questions. I would keep in mind too if you are booking 2x separate flights from SYD>NAN and then NAN>LAX, that if the Sydney departure is late / cancelled then you won't be protected like you would if it was one booking.

Probably OT, but they are back to ~$270-300 now. I was surprised they dropped (I had an alert) due to the AFL GF weekend traffic.

Flights with VA back to Brisbane on the Sunday are actually much cheaper as of yesterday - cancelled 2x J fares for 2x Y Choice for $120

I would say I infrequently fly VA compared to QF, but with the family pooling and lower requirements I'll reach Gold with VA next month without really trying.
