China (COVID-19) Respiratory illness - Effect on Travel

Yes for something new that is my understanding too as it did take that long. However some are claiming that it can and will be much quicker How Long Will It Take to Develop a Vaccine for Coronavirus? SARS took 20 months, but that was almost twenty years ago and vaccines are evidently can be...

China (COVID-19) Respiratory illness - Effect on Travel

Though not surprising with a coronavirus. and with so many variables no one could be expected to be accurate. With it having already infected so many people one would expect that it will just like other corona virus's get out worldwide. The only real question is how long will this take. I...

COVID-19 in Japan and Japanese waters

I would believe that history has shown that cruise ships are rife for spreading disease, from gastro to cold/flu to this current virus. Close and repeated contact combined with poor hygiene of most people (ie most people whether cruise passengers or not do not wash their hands often enough or...

Changing the Default Card in the AmEx App

Well I have different usernames for my 4 different Amexes. So I just enter the username for the one I want to use. It remembers the one I used last time as the default. But it is only seconds to enter the new username if I want to use any of the other Amexes.

China (COVID-19) Respiratory illness - Effect on Travel

Being an engineer and the curious type I have done a little reading. I did not find a report on it being spread by the wind. The one case I can find (you may have an additional source) is this one where multiple factors were at play. In particular it will need to be in a building where the...

Have you had to change/cancel travel due to 2019 n-CoV (involuntarily or voluntarily)?

IMO if you have a flu, cold etc then of the publicly available vitamins that (Chellate) Zinc tablets the only ones that make any difference. ie Symptons are milder and quicker recovery. Skip the cold and flu versions as they are just overpriced. I have however found that taking extra vitamin...

Cruising choices with an active Pandemic

Do you have link to this? The articles I have read only indicated that the Quarantine Officer has been infected with no reference as to when or how he was exposed.

China (COVID-19) Respiratory illness - Effect on Travel

Toilets at sporting stadiums and in public open areas mainly do not have an entrance door (except perhaps to lock overnight).

Have you had to change/cancel travel due to 2019 n-CoV (involuntarily or voluntarily)?

So reading between the lines more because the Gov Staff involved had now had to be elsewhere (or working on other priorities). A bit like a firefighting conference being cancelled due the attendees being needed to fight fires, rather than there being a fire at the conference.

Cruising choices with an active Pandemic

Which was my point as the language used was not scientific at all and I would suspect is largely speculative rather than accurate. My guess is that the long distance comment has no scientific basis as this would be something quite different. We know the the virus is a corona-virus and so...

Cruising choices with an active Pandemic

Though that is airborne as in aerosol. The media report was on the dramatic side and so I will await to see how the various health bodies actually communicate what this means in terms of communicability.

Out of interest why was a workshop in Canberra cancelled due to the novo Coronavirus?

Wuhan was quarantined I believe from 23 Jan. Conference in Singapore was 20-22 Jan.

Cruising choices with an active Pandemic

I realise people are fearful, but I think it best not to spread concerns that do not seem to match the current advice. People are advised to not wear masks, and avoid contact by 8ft with anyone who is infected. How is it prevented? It’s likely that general prevention measures used for other...

KrisFlyer Star Alliance Round-the-World Award Planning

Suites are F. There are less Suite seats available to redeem than J, so J are easier to get. *A F is good, but for RTW there are many routes without an F Cabin. Hence why people book J RTW. For South America it is difficult to get *A redemption (or Oneworld for that matter). So many people...

Well hopefully one upside should be increased handwashing. So less problems with flu, gastro etc.

China (COVID-19) Respiratory illness - Effect on Travel

Yes we have all been exposed to corana-virus of one type or another already many times. https://www.who.int/health-topics/coronavirus Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory...

China (COVID-19) Respiratory illness - Effect on Travel

I have not seen the report, but is that people on board the ship claimed to have developed symptoms of upper respiratory tract infections, or of actual coronavius? I did see one report stating that 10 people who had coronavirus had been transferred to Japanese Hospitals for treatment.
