Bogus Charge - Avis CPT Airport

Re: dodgy charges We hired a car from Avis CPT Airport last December and got the "all clear" from their employee who checked it over when we returned it. Had filled the tank at the airport servo / no damage etc. Then, nearly 3 months after our hire, I noticed a $AUD33 charge from Avis on my...

"oneworld" award (132.4K/249.6K/318K/455K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

Sure, your QF flight might arrive late but if you miss your OSL connection you can spend a few hours in the lounge. Plus, it's only a 2hr flight to OSL and BA's J seats on intra-Europe flights are just Y with the centre seat blocked so you wouldn't be missing out on much

    Apple Airtags

Since there might be 6 months or more between trips for us nowadays, I take the batteries out at the end of a trip. I know they are not expensive but it's simple to remove them and why have the tags active when we're not travelling?

"oneworld" award (132.4K/249.6K/318K/455K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

When you add a leg back to MEL (which you will ultimately need to do to complete the OWCA itinerary) it will top out at 318K points. Until you do that you will need enough points in your account to cover the points for the individual flights

"oneworld" award (132.4K/249.6K/318K/455K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

In the past I did that with a couple of connecting CX flights, only to have those flights disappear from my booking without warning several days later when CX's system detected that I had gone through the call centre to book the blocked connecting flights. Suggest you keep an eye out to see if...

Changes to how you use your $450 Travel Credit

Maybe you are correct Daver6 but I am not confident your assumptions are correct. Re: Centurion Passes - if you used your $450 credit to book with QF, they would sure know when the flight was booked

Changes to how you use your $450 Travel Credit

It seems they have changed their systems to be date sensitive. In the case of the QF lounge passes, they simply don't show up on the QF website as they did in the past. When I rang QF to enquire I was told the passes only show up and become available to be linked to a flight once you make an...

Changes to how you use your $450 Travel Credit

The changes to the Ts & Cs in May also include some AMEX nitpicking regarding lounge access. I noticed that the complimentary lounge passes now only apply to bookings made after the card's anniversary. So, when you pay your annual fee ($450 in my case) you become eligible for the 2 QF lounge...

    Virtual location pricing

Five years ago Master Vetrade had his passport and wallet/credit cards stolen in Mexico. He emailed me to book & pay for a US domestic flight with UA for him and gave me the flight details and ticket price he found on the 'net. Using Skyscanner the best price I could get was over $AUD200 more...

Norwegian Fiord cruise in June , 7 days. Assistance please

Yes, you can book excursions later with Havila but, comparing notes with a couple on our cruise who did do an excursion, it may not be worth bothering. While we sat back in comfort on the boat admiring the changing scenery, they spent most of their time on a bus going to and from the excursion...

Norwegian Fiord cruise in June , 7 days. Assistance please

Maybe check you are "comparing apples with apples". That Hurtigruten price seems very high. Prices do vary significantly with the type of cabin and what meal package you select. Comparing "like for like" Havila was about $1000 cheaper for our trip with full board.

Norwegian Fiord cruise in June , 7 days. Assistance please

Hurtigruten had a monopoly on the route between Kirkenes and Bergen (with numerous stops along the way) but there's now a competitor in Havila which commenced sailings at the start of 2022 with a fleet of 4 brand new ships. They are partially electric. The two companies now share the route...

Latest information about 28 degrees card

Yes, that's correct, but just presenting your card and entering the pin is not 2FA, as oz mark asserted. The act of presenting the card is, of itself, not an "authentication". "Authentication" is a means of proving you are using the card legitimately.

Latest information about 28 degrees card

Don't understand that comment. Your PIN is "first factor" authentication and the "second factor" is a one time code you get via SMS. The discussion point is that if you can't receive SMS's, you can't authenticate the one time code

    Discussion on Ukraine situation 2022

Don't underestimate how appealing it might be to a considerable number of prisoners to not only be freed from prison, but also to be paid a wage and given licence to murder virtually as many people as they want, with impunity. To many of those sickos that's as good as winning the lottery

    What's your favourite travel story?

Although Mrs V and I are not really outdoorsy types at home, my No. 1 bucket list item has long been to conquer Trolltunga (the Troll's Tongue) in Norway, ever since I saw a pic of it in a travel article. Truth be known, at 68YO I had serious misgivings as to whether I would be up to the...

Article: Qantas’ Frustrating Application of Married Segment Logic

A real nuisance is the fact that if you live in MEL and want to use points for a classic reward on QF63 between SYD and JNB, QF either won't let you book any reward flight from MEL -SYD to connect to JNB. At best, if you are lucky, you might get a reward seat on a MEL - SYD flight with a lousy...
