Double Status Credits on QF Operated Flights. Book 9/8/18-14/8/18 for travel 21/8/18 to 8/8/19

After a lot of research I finally booked my best bang for bucks trip this afternoon to Bali / DPS. If anyone wants to emulate it, buying Sydney to DPS via Melbourne on 29/8 in J is still going for $1, 000 I think. That means 320 SC under the deal for that sector alone. Coming back to Sydney the...

28° Mastercard Cash Advances while overseas [No more free cash advances from 1/1/14]

The one annoying feature of the 28 Degrees card I recently found out about (thx to new operators of the card, not GE Money as before?) was hitting me with a 95cent charge for each out of sync topup (one of $200, other of only $30) to cover an unwitting credit withdrawal by my partner o'seas...

28° Mastercard Cash Advances while overseas [No more free cash advances from 1/1/14]

would agree with MEL that a two or three pronged strategy needed. I am with the 28 Degrees for credit purchases +Citi debit Visa for o'seas cash plan myself. Some premium cards offer points and also claim no forex charges o'seas, but frankly can't be bothered switching cards just for that...

50% more status credits - offer valid for bookings made in next 7 days

Oatek, I got the same offer (domestic only too) with same expiry on 15 Dec. Qantas must have worked out (not hard) that almost the only domestic flying I do is to ADL in March for the Adelaide Fest and Womad, with a very occasional BNE jaunt. Otherwise it is to NZ 4-5 times a year and maybe...

    50% status credit offer

Someone did mention algorithm as to the logic of this offer. I will only see logic if all people declare their anniversary FF date, as my theory (with very limited personal experience) is that you may tend to get it 1-2 months after anniversary. I got mine last year in early Aug (year begins...

    Trans Tasman Sparkle

Don't know about the Flounge in AKL - but know the wine selection in EK J lounge in AKL makes the QF lounge look boring and predictable. Some top Kiwi wines in good varietals (as well as the inevitable French bubbles). Have not even bothered with inspecting the QF lounge of late with both...

    Trans Tasman Sparkle

Pathetic attempt to "spice up" cross-Tasman J in QF. Myself I never fly to AKL (3-4 times a year) anything other than an EK A-380(on QF ticket) or even the good value LA J class. I am over "baby plane" 737s when the A380 is so much more comfortable.

    Upgrades with Emirates!

Re: Upgrades with Emirates! (it can happen) I meant to post my recent experience to that earlier item. Anyway considered it a record to do a return to AKL over Xmas (QF ticket but EK A380 of course) and got J upgrade BOTH ways, even though on the cheapest possible ticket (about $640 at that...

Free Qantas Club pass expiring end July 2014 - free etc to good home

Having just squeaked into QF Gold with 720SC mostly by overspending on trans-Tasman J class, I have the Gold stamp to prove it already so can now access the lounge etc without a free pass. However I have a remaining free Qantas Club invitation exp. 7/14, after 2 given to me after an honest...

QF trials new "no tray" meal service in Economy Class

the "light lunch" inclusion on ADL-SYD on Sat. 15th at 1.30pm was a rather greasy in a hot plastic bag "sweet potato and sausage pie" - the greasiness possibly from the cheese content, rather than the 19% claimed beef sausage content. There was also a strange listed ingredient whose name I...

10 QFF Points per $ - Gift Vouchers are back!

thanks everyone, or at least most recent posters with actual useful advice. The way forward is now likely clear - transfer credit to a couple going somewhere to somewhere well over $500 per pax so that the lot goes in one hit. And never hit the wrong button again if buying these again, of course!

10 QFF Points per $ - Gift Vouchers are back!

oyez, oyez line up now for stoning of innocents - and lawyers (retired in this case thank you). Perhaps greed for points blurred my vision etc (at least I got those at better than normal return rate) so thank you all for the useful (retrospective) advice from such smart and never caught out...

10 QFF Points per $ - Gift Vouchers are back!

Re: 10 QFF Points per $ - Gift Vouchers - BUT problem with mutlitple vouchers oh yes, humbleness is a virtue. At least you say "obviously you didn't intend to travel in parallel" so you are partly redeemed. Thx for your useful comment!

10 QFF Points per $ - Gift Vouchers are back!

Re: 10 QFF Points per $ - Gift Vouchers - BUT problem with mutlitple vouchers so people who buy multiples for themselves have to buy them in separate steps at $500 a pop do they? - is that how this is designed, otherwsie I assume the vouchers would go up to 'sky's the limit' I spose. I did see...

10 QFF Points per $ - Gift Vouchers are back!

Re: 10 QFF Points per $ - Gift Vouchers - BUT problem with mutlitple vouchers I have what I now see is a MAJOR problem with what seemed a great idea at the time after tipoff from AFF. I bought 2 x $500 vouchers on 26 Dec.13 both made out to myself (other solo travellers on this thread noted)...

28° Mastercard Cash Advances while overseas [No more free cash advances from 1/1/14]

Re: 28 Degrees Mastercard - Japan and Mastercard EMV chip cards issues? Update Tokyo and Narita update - no, 7Bank appears a complete non-starter with 28 Degrees Mastercard, regardless of Asia/Pacific etc - certainly at NRT, have not tried anywhere else as assume the same "issue". (It would...

28° Mastercard Cash Advances while overseas [No more free cash advances from 1/1/14]

Re: 28 Degrees Mastercard - Japan and Mastercard EMV chip cards issues? I am also acutely aware of this flying into NRT in a couple of days for 2 weeks in Japan, then to Korea for 2 weeks. I know from 5 weeks in S Korea last year that generally no problems at all with cards (NAB Amex and...
