    Brisbane restaurant recommendations

Chiming in far too late, but here's my 2c - We had dinner last week for our anniversary at La Cache a Vin; we were meant to go last year, but I got sick on our anniversary and had a Covid test instead. Loved it, hate that they're not open on Saturday nights, though. We had lunch on...

Thanks, much better. The Teen was recovered by the time the parents got ill. The GP checked their ears on Monday, and the perforations are healing well. 👍

Ferments are in the plan. Just need Mr Katie (aka the family cook) to start reading more of the literature we have. The centre we are working with deal specifically in kids/people with neurodevelopmental disorders, such as ASD, ADHD, SPD, etc. We are pursuing this under their guidance (not just...

Update on the Teen. I’ve been submitting lots of OT and Speechie waitlist requests. A couple have come through, and we’ll see a speechie next week for am assessment, and an OT in early Sept. I haven’t pursued NDIS yet, as I didn’t expect to get appts so soon (as in, before next year’. Have...

QFF premium line - work from home?

I've worked with colleagues who've put a sign up on their desk (and put their headphones on) when they don't want to be disturbed by randoms like me walking up and interrupting them. :)

Vaccine Rollout in Australia - personal accounts.

Along the same lines as asking all blood donors if they have engaged in male to male sexual activity. Way back in the 90s sometime, I accidentally said Yes. That caused a bunch of extra questions!! (I am a cisgender woman, and apart from the time I did the Shave for a Cure, generally do...

Vaccine Rollout in Australia - personal accounts.

Had my second Pfizer on Weds, 23 June, 22 days after my first. Went to STARS at RBWH for this one. Bit of a hit on the parking cost. No side effects for me with either jab, apart from a slight headache the day after jab 2. Panamax sorted that out.

Vaccine Rollout in Australia - personal accounts.

Got my Pfizer jab at RBWH on Tuesday afternoon. The Teen had to come with me due to school pickup/one car household shenanigans. No issues. Sore arm til last night. If I gently press around what I assume was the injection site, it's a bit sensitive. Glad I had The Teen with me. They held my...

    2021 Travel Plans

Hmm, well, due to fly to MEL in 3.5 weeks for Harry Potter. My BFF is coming with us, and is ready to pull the pin (she's immune compromised, plus starting a new job, and frankly no theatre show is worth two weeks' hotel quarantine!!). I'm currently waiting until late next week to make the...

    New Qantas safety demo 2020

We had the centernary video on BNE-SYD, SYD-SYD (eclipse scenic flight) and SYD-BNE last week. It was cool seeing the "International" version on the 787, with the comments about not moving your seat if your phone gets stuck, and the pilot holding a brick mobile phone in the coughpit. :P Though...

    Super Moon Flight

Yes, the head chef who was working the function usually works in the FLounge. Mr Katie had a bit of a chat to me, as well as making a bit of a confession that the FLounge is one of his holy places. :p

    Super Moon Flight

Snack bags were definitely for everyone - we were in row 41 (and Mr Katie in 49), and had the snack bags there. Our food offering in Y was a bit different to Y+/J - we had some crackers, cheese, baby tomatoes, a "quke" (small cucumber) and zucchini fritters with a dip. The same cupcake, though...

Vaccine Rollout in Australia - personal accounts.

Mr Katie had his AZ shot 1 at the local Smart Clinics yesterday (he's 2A the old fart! :P). Started feeling fluey in the afternoon, but he was still able to make dinner. Thank goodness! :P He decided to sleep in rather than get up for his 6am meeting this morning. He was still in bed when I...

Decking around with a pav ... illion

End of week 9 Yup, this isn't going to be a 10 week project. The gravel has been boxed in The storage room was meant to be wider, but we had to sacrifice some space for the kitchen/bench area. After the rain, the Golden Pendas are showing good signs of regrowth. Cabinet work starts. The...

Decking around with a pav ... illion

End of week 8 Work is starting to slow down for the builder's team now. New pavers and gravel installed. The laundry is to the right of this pic. The rain the previous week caused stains/rusting on the stringers for the stairs. :/ We chose a tap for the sink. When the builder went to...

Decking around with a pav ... illion

End of week 7 (28 Feb) This is going to take longer than we all thought. A few times towards the end of the project, the site manager commented a few times about how he's never seen the construction industry in Brisbane so busy! Guess what? The plumber found the original gas line! I think it...

Personal reflections a year into COVID-19: What has changed? What have you missed?

Hmm, well, I'm missing my usual two jaunts to the US per year. I've had a friend send over a "care package" with the magazine she subscribed to for Mr Katie, as well as items from CVS/Target that I usually stock up on. I miss being able to get away. Our habit has been one big holiday a year, or...

I've been finding I need to add them all. I've only got three, made one booking this week.

Well, over the weekend we got the results of the Teen's ADOS testing. Level 2 ASD and a more fine tuned diagnosis of their ADHD as inattentive type (didn't get that detail from the first paed we saw, though I have a two page report with a bunch of numbers). Not a complete surprise, but I am...
