The whole race weekend.....oh geez. Pole, race win.

State border closures illegal under the highest law in the country?

I think on the basis of the latest outbreak, the answer is pretty clear. For 3 jurisdictions WA, Qld, Tas, the bar for extreme circumstances is pretty low (Eg 1 local case in the community) and slow to remove quarantine requirements. For 1 jurisdiction NT, the bar is low but at least will...

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Yeah the official information has been vague from the beginning (the third/fourth day when the hard lockdown was announced). It’s making me quite nervous.

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Given it seems the positive case came more than a week later, it might be worthwhile to consider that it’s a slow virus (long time between infected and infectious). It’s great that you (and assuming most of Adelaide) have been wearing masks) and it’s probably a good idea to be cautious for about...

All international travelers will be quarantined in hotels or designated facilities

I also read somewhere that they will have workforce bubbles, so that if a staff is positive only a portion are affected in being quarantined for being a close contact And 11 designated quarantine hotels

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

So being partially facetious we now probably have 7-8 QR venue check in State-backed code systems and 1 Fed-backed COVIDSafe app.... More apps for some IT wiz to hack....lovely

    2020 F1 Thread

Grosjean is a lucky driver With 2 races to go, McLaren looking good for 3rd in the Constructors’ Championship (which is a shame for Racing Point which seems to have better pace but no luck in securing results)

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Just to catch up. I gather @Pushka was caught up on today’s announcement of venues where a positive case was. Does that mean these venues are regarded as close contact (ie 14 days quarantine regardless of test result and symptom) or casual contact (ie wait for negative test)? I’m just...

Alan Joyce flies to Melbourne to discuss Qantas HQ and maintenance relocation to Victoria

Bain’s Qld credit card apparently has a 7% interest charge and a limit of $180m. Well that’s the rate of return being claimed by Qld Government press release - plus speculative reporting that $20m got 2% stake

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

I think NSW stopped tracking recoveries quite a while ago and on their own just started using 4 weeks as a proxy for active. It seems everyone else is using recoveries to determine remaining actives

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

To be honest, the reporting of SA details has been quite opaque (unclear whether intentional or not). It seems this cluster is not going to blow out like Auckland (cold store lead to 150-200) or even Thai Rock (about 100) or even Crossroads (about 60). Australia’s active local cases NSW - 8...

I was hoping this thread got to 24 hours without a post ... lol I guess 13 hours is not too bad

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Have I understood you correctly that your reading of the tea leaves is that an Australian Government won't necessarily allow vaccinated people in quarantine free? A line of thinking is that Aussies stuck overseas could come back quarantine free by being vaccinated. Would this not clear the...

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Was there an indication WA will say something today? Or just being hopeful

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

It’s the US’s CDC figures similar to what dajop posted. You could also argue that a proportion of death would be poor access to healthcare as well. The UK reports numbers of deaths within 28 days of a positive test, which would have narrowed cause down. But I was unable to quickly find an age...

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

There will always be people that are of the view that a 1:2000 death rate is basically no impact.

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Ok about 1000 dead from 2.2m cases - 18-29 age group in the US

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Maybe it’s because it’s taken 12 days to find this one case after over a week of looking. 1 outlier case within 24 hours (ie a fourth or fifth generation) suggests a more infectious strain. 1 outlier case after more than 250 hour later perhaps suggests a normal developing virus

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

I gravely doubt that version of ‘herd-vaccination’ will stop the spread amongst the 10 million Aussies effectively unvaccinated.....
