It was such an unnecessary way to get the information they wanted...

Australian women on Qatar flight internally examined

A urinary pregnancy stick test will still be positive for at least a week after delivery. A woman could be escorted to a toilet cubicle, and do a urine test behind a closed door, and the stick immediately read by nurse/ doctor/ anyone. An ultrasound gives immediate information on a postpartum...

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/oct/26/i-was-absolutely-terrified-australian-witness-recounts-qatar-strip-search-ordeal Further details from one of the women involved. Absolutely terrifying experience. And a completely unnecessary way to obtain the information they were looking for...

Australian women on Qatar flight internally examined

https://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2020-10-25/passengers-invasively-searched-qatar-after-report-foetus-found/12811716 Reported today on several news outlets. Utterly horrific. Totally inexcusable. Can’t imagine the distress. Surely DNA cheek swabs could have been used instead if they were that...

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

As reported by ABC, NSW Health's Jeremy McAnulty said the student was a boarder. "All boarders and staff in the boarding area have been identified as close contacts," he said. "Boarding operations at the school have been suspended, and students are isolating at home with their families." So...

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

The bigger risk on domestic flights now is not so much that you might catch the virus, but if you are unlucky enough to be seated in the rows either side of a Covid positive passenger, you will be sent straight home to quarantine for 14 days. No leaving your house for 14 days. No picking up...

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

New York still is not open for indoor dining ( outdoor dining and takeaway only). Given how many of Sydney’s cases have arisen in a situation of indoor dining, closing down just that one type of venue would seem to make a huge difference to numbers.

These groups seem to think the mask is to protect the wearer from infectious droplets

Fly Well. New QF Covid procedures

So if masks offer no protection from catching the virus, why do all the healthcare workers in Covid wards in hospitals wear masks at all?

Fly Well. New QF Covid procedures

Totally agree re the inconsistencies. Qantas says “ wear a mask if you like”, Qatar and others have their cabin crew in hazmat suits with full PPE. Someone has it wrong, only time will tell who. It’s anyone’s guess really.

Fly Well. New QF Covid procedures

Except when your minuscule risk turns into reality, and you are unlucky enough to get very sick and have to go to hospital, it won’t be just you taking the risk. You have then signed up all the healthcare workers who will look after you to your risk as well. And around the world, there are now...

Fly Well. New QF Covid procedures

There’s the problem. How do you know you are “ healthy”? How do you know you are not at that moment a presymptomatic or asymptomatic spreader. You could be the problem. Once you BREAK social distancing anything you can do to stop an infected person from depositing virus into your airways or eyes...

How will international travel work with no COVID 19 vaccine

This is one of the commonest misunderstandings about current restrictions. While we wish the elderly and vulnerable all the best, the restrictions are primarily about protecting our hospitals and healthcare system from becoming completely overwhelmed. None of us have pe-existing immunity, and it...

Cancelling [VA fare rules & COVID-19 uncertainty]

This email came from Virgin today. I had a points flight booked to MEL next Monday which has been cancelled by Virgin. Virgin Australia announced the temporary suspension of international services from 30 March to 14 June 2020 and changes to domestic capacity in response to expanded government...

    Priority baggage

Just give up hope on priority boarding or baggage. The last 20 flights with Qantas, all fully paid business, platinum flyer, domestic and international, bags never came out in the first half of all bags. Not once. Culminated in Sydney international last month, when bags came out essentially last...

Global Qantas Double Status Credits Offer (Book 20-26 Feb 2020; Fly: 28 Feb 2020-14 Feb 2021)

For the last 2 days i’ve been trying to book a multi city with a domestic leg and an international one, and just get error messages. This is regardless of the international destination entered. Still works fine for the domestic multi city. I just gave up and booked each leg separately. Not...
