Amex "I'm going to cancel my card" - bonus points given thread.

I moved explorer to essentials. I only really use my charge card now. Essentials is just for Amex offers now. It’s fee free and on MR. Surprisingly, Explorer was pooling to my MR Ascent Premium account now only earns Gateway points. The number of points isn’t worth getting flustered over but I...

    KrisFlyer 15% Transfer Bonus!

I also think the 3 year expiry should be scrapped. I have >1m points that are trapped and heading towards expiry. My thinking is that whilst all airlines are desperate for the cash, they might at best do what Asia Miles did which is scrap the expiry for all NEW miles. That way existing miles...

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

@cove can you make it stack up on something like CreditRewards for 1.8% GST inclusive (while it lasts)? Guess the biggest unknown is what will happen to the value of FF points once we start flying again. I don’t think airline shareholders will be the only ones to take some pain. I received the...

yep - sorry for the abbreviation - was on my mobile. Have picked up the lingo on AFF over the years.

tax deduction on credit card fee

Not that I know of. The a/c card is a supplementary and itemized separately on your statement. If you can convince them to itemize the AF against the a/c card that might make your job easier re a deduction. Check with your accountant - they might have strategies you can use. The Business...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Haven’t received any service station bonus on Amex Green. I have though on my Citi Premier. I’m using the government’s e-Toll tag that might not work as a bonus merchant. Glad the public transport does as I use it more frequently. it is a bit annoying that Amex won’t let you hold a credit for...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Yep. Same with dining including my most regular coffee shop. I have found that road tolls don’t attract the 3x category though. Same with most service stations I’ve visited.

    New [Amex] statement credits

Agree $60 is quite a big hurdle to meet but Starcash card might be a good option to top up spend for later use :)

    Centurion annual fee

I think they’re working through everybody. I only got my call this morning and then I got an email but my RM had already enrolled me. Might be targeted but don’t think so. I took up the offers earlier in the year so that doesn’t seem to have disqualified me which I’m glad of.

    Centurion annual fee

Just received call from my RM for the $500 rebate. Off to WOW to do some shopping. Hope we get a few other offers - assuming COVID situation would have to get worse for that. I'm hoping it will get better even though I guess we might not see so many offers. Appreciate the initiative from Amex :)

    New [Amex] statement credits

@Pumbaa Did you take advantage of the covid initiatives earlier in the year like the double points and supermarket promos?

    New [Amex] statement credits

Doesn’t make any mention of Westfield. Are they still included and if so are the two sites in the city (Sydney) considered separate outlets?

    Centurion annual fee

If ‘awe’ is the major draw card to holding a card, then it’s definitely a waste of money especially as we now mostly tap to pay with our phones. Don’t think anyone will see our cards again.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

You need to call the International Banking Center and they will walk you through the application. Your US RM will then contact you for your welcome call.

Answered Pay through Auspost bpay towards amex?

I’ve switched to paying by BPay via credit rewards. There is the matter of the service fee but there is also a surcharge which I think is quite OTT on the deft notice.

    Centurion annual fee

They’re unlikely to do so but never hurts to ask. Amex have had several offers this year to help take the sting out of it like the double points promo until July and the $700 shopping bonus. Did you manage to take advantage of these offers?

Answered Has anyone had success or invite offers to upgrade from gold charge to platinum charge?

I think the Gold charge annual fee is $130 + extra for additional supplementary cards. If you spend a lot on the gold (though I think the points earn is pretty pedestrian so you’re unlikely to), you might get an invite to platinum. I once met a gold card holder who received multiple invites to...

Amex Business Platinum no longer offering comp Australian Financial Review subscription?

Hope the personal Charge isn’t next to get the snip. This is a worthwhile benefit worth like $700pa I think.
