Hi all,

Will be departing Singapore Sunday evening on QF. With OW Saphire status, which would be the best lounge to use there? I'll be keen for a shower and something to eat for dinner.

I noticed BA should have a new lounge British Airways Singapore lounge first class Concorde Bar - Australian Business Traveller

I've not been to the new QF lounge there and have heard good things. Having said that, I believe its a similar concept to the HK one which while not bad, I thought seemed a little sterile and lacked warmth and comfort. What's the CX option like? Anything else worthy of looking at?

Thanks

PS happy to guest anyone in who is flying on the Qantas flight back to PER that evening.

There's plenty of threads and other posts giving views on tbe lounges in Singapore.

I'm not a huge fan of the Qantas lounge - noisy, sterile, OK service, and no distinction between status passengers. But it's clean, decent food and good drinks. Quite spacious but can get very crowded.

I'll be trying the BA lounge next time I'm there (so please go to it and post some pics and a report!)

I have always gone to the Emirates lounge when I can. Better food and drink, more personal service and quieter. Off the top of my head I don't know if you'd have access, sorry. I think you do but you'd need to check.

Skip the CX lounge (which is a contract lounge) and visit both the QF and BA lounges.

go for food and drink at EK lounge and showers at QF, poke your head in at BA and see how it's looking now

Thanks for the feedback. I didn't think I'd have access to the EK lounge though given flying on QF with a QF flight number in Y. Access via QF SG or Air Berlin SG.

If you have time, try all 3 and please report back. . To be safe I'd make the EK lounge last as that's where I'd happily stay until boarding. They may not do QF flight announcements though (I can't recall).

It's a very good lounge. Far better than the LAX F lounge and probably better than SYD and MEL F lounges too. Food is very good and many healthy selections on the buffet area.

Everyone has different views. While I am a big fan of the EK Singapore lounge (assuming that's the one you are talking about), QFs F lounges in Syd and Mel are superior (in my view) - bigger food selections, spa treatments, different spaces to relax in, the view...

My screw up for not being clear. It's the SIN QF lounge that I was referring to. It is the best IMO

Better than the F lounges??? Are you crazy??? :)

That has been said!

But seriously I don't like waiting ages for food that is seriously ordinary from staff who are seriously incompetent sitting amongst freeloading politicians and assorted DYKWIA characters with Botox and LV bags. Happy in the SIN J lounge, it's a modern take and well done. If only they were all that good .

I guess everyone's experiences and tastes are different. Personally, I've found the food in the F lounges consistently good, with enough variety to select something different if you need. Service has occasionally been slow but only when crowded. Very few DYKWIA types (or maybe I jut DKWTA!) - but especially not in MEL. (Now back on topic...) Beats the zoo that can be Singapore or any general lounge for all pax.

In contrast, I find the food in the SIN QF lounge very bland, little variety and with very average service. It's fine but nowhere near the F lounges.

My first visit to QF SIN lounge, I wasn't impressed. My last visit my view changed.

Not sure I'd rate it higher than the SYD F lounge, but the standards in that lounge have dropped over the last few years. the minute steak is declining in quality, for example. No doubt due to certain things involving JQ flights.

In SIN, currently think I'd rate EK and QF as equal favourites, for different reasons. Do wish to hear a report back about the BA lounge - but will probably try that in a couple of weeks anyway.

I was in SIN 2 days ago and the BA lounge is still a mess, with drilling/tradesmen, so not 100% on the opening date.

The QF lounge is fine, they have improved service of late IMHO.

Although did get stink eye with my P1 card and a BA boarding pass ;)

So unless I'm missing something, that seems to indicate no access to the EK lounge unless flying on EK (or EK codeshare)?

QF or EK surely? For Gold (OW Sapphire) members:

So doing a road test. The EK lounge happens to be closed now, so no luck there.

Day 6 of the new BA lounge and it still smells new. I have no idea what time the BA flights are, but the lounge was empty except for two other people. Lovely and quite, but suspect will fill up at some point.

Internet is blazingly fast in both directions.

It looks beautiful. The is a good selection of spirits. Currently no hot food out though, but the place holders sound appealing. So, when in Rome...a cup of tea for me.

Thanks Daver6. I'm yet to check out the FT thread, but seems there's mixed views on drink quality. Are spirits self serve, and are they good quality? That would be enough for me to take it over QF. Quiet and comfortable are winners for me.
