I've got a bunch of SQ points that I can't see being used any time soon. Is there any way of gifting them to a friend who lives in Singapore? Not family, just someone who has more chance to use them than me.

You can't gift them, but you may be able to make them a "nominee".

There's a more information here:

you could also convert them to golden circle shangrila points or book a hotel room using SQ vrooms

Might just buy something in their shop, and gift that. Too many to abandon, and not enough to use.

How long do you have? VA2 is supposedly negotiating the re-opening of the KrisFlyer<->Velocity transfers, so that could be an option if it eventuates in time.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Jumping on this thread to ask if the points were gifted would their expiry change?

We were doing a RTW J class which obviously hasn't happened so have points due to expire early next year. It I gifted them to hubby would that prolong them?

As indicated, krysflyer points cannot be gifted (as in, moved to another's Krysflyer account).

They can be used to book flights for a nominee,.

With that the expiry does not change - if a booking for a nominee is cancelled and the points used for that booking would have expired then those points are gone.

Have the ATW booking been cancelled and the points refunded? If so, they may have been extended.

Without wanting to be harsh...but why would I want to fly on Virgin?

They had a pretty good 77W/A330 business product, but no more. They are quite ok for a 737 Domestic hop in Business.

However, you do not have to fly on Virgin - Velocity points can be used on other airlines including Etihad.

Transfer to Velocity, use to redeem on SQ/EY/AC/VS. Velocity points don't expire as long as the account has activity within 18 months, SQ is grinchy by comparison.

I'm sure you have legacy benefits to keep you going relatively risk-free domestically so I can understand that side of things
