Australian state border restrictions

🤦‍♀️🙇🏼‍♀️ So next week SA is opening the borders to the vaccinated without quarantine. This week NT has sadly experienced an outbreak. So what is SA Health fluffing about six days prior? Closing the borders to NT. 🤷‍♀️

Is that a joke?

I actually thought it was just a cut and paste of the release we all got, and have edited my post to reflect this! Thanks for pointing that out!
No offence taken at all :D- misunderstandings are easy to happen on open forums like this, I should have made it clearer that below the line in my post was a direct copy and paste of the email that I received from the QLD government (removed personal links obviously), I understand it was somewhat wordy and might have covered ground already explored in the thread, but just put it out there in case someone else might have missed it, or if other people wanted to comment on it, and just interested if I had misinterpreted any of it. Most posters on here are very helpful and can be a useful source of info as some of them are still travelling and are giving us the real lived experience of all these different state border procedures as they change and evolve.

The whole thing is a sick joke at our expense now.

Yep. I’d love to know if anybody genuinely believes anymore that Australia is doing a good job in handling this pandemic. Other than a few overpaid, underworked prima-donnas in the public health system, surely the remainder are seeing through this?

There has never been an Australian wide approach to handling the pandemic apart form international border restrictions which have already been eased. The day to day management has been state based and so experience is different compared with where you live.

As an overpaid underworked prima donna in the public health system I object. o_O ;) :)

While there have certainly been costs that I will not attempt to understate, the fact I don't know anyone in Australia who has died from Covid - let alone had covid - is something I am grateful for.

So this morning I flew from Kangaroo Island back to Adelaide. Obviously intrastate. On arrival into Adelaide airport, while we always land at the small terminal at the back of the airport, we normally take the lift to get to the main terminal to exit. This time as we all made our way we were stopped by all the security. Hell, surely we didn't need a cross border permit! But no, the glass door was slid across to shield us 😅 because we could see the police intervewing someone and the Security guy told us in hushed voice "she was from Sydney". Quelle Horreur! 😱😷😷😷 😂 I started humming "I am, you are, we are Australian". I think I was the only one who got my joke.

Finally she left and we were let through.

I've seen movies about this but yet to see one set in Australia.

Looks like the QLD authorities are trying to work their way through the large backlog of Hotel Quarrantine "bookings" or "expressions of interest" to enter QLD that must already be in the system.

I just got this email today. Important to note that if you do want to go ahead with doing hotel quarantine you do have to actively reply to this email with your border pass application number application number, and I am betting that if people don't reply, then they will have their expression of interest in hotel quarantine purged from their database. Those people who have applied for home quarantine need not do anything according to this email.

If you wish to proceed with HOTEL Quarantine, please reply with your border pass application number/s and name. The QPS Border Pass Workforce will contact you within the next few days.

There is NO need to reply if you are wanting to wait for the proposed Home Quarantine however, I would encourage you to be familiar with the Queensland’s COVID-19 Vaccine Plan To Unite Families plan.

Kind regards,

Queensland Police Border Pass Workforce

possibly overwhelmed by numerous duplicate applications and unable/unwilling to expand the current hotel quarantine capacity
There have been numerous media articles confirming this, and the dire situation many have been in.
Flight itinerary detailing the date and time of arrival to your final destination in Queensland (do not book your flights until you receive a message...
Another 'like hello' moment from Qld Health. What sort of flight itinerary do they want if it doesn't have flights in it?

Thanks for the info 👍

It'll just make it all the more embarrassing when the Qld government collapses in a heap trying to maintain this effort through summer
