The Uk data suggests there is nothing to worry about.

UK Freedom day was 19July - just after the second highest peak (red arrow) The new cases were still happening but never decreased to a level similar to after the highest peak. However the second graph says the death rate has plummeted - (green circle)

That practice is common for other medico-legal or medico-occupational issues.

For example workers compensation claims are assessed by independent assessors and not just the patient’s medical practitioner.

It can be a grey area though- to what extent should matters of certificates and claims be adjudicated by an independent?.

Sick certificates?
Mobility parking stickers?

BTW I am not aware of a case of a healthcare worker not being able to wear a mask. And qualification to work in the area at initial entry after training does not require demonstration of such ability unlike a requirement for other skills. It’s not even a skill.
Back in the day I used to have 2 days doing medico legal work.Mostly to do with worker's compensation cases. One day was for the barrister representing the Newcastle Trades Hall Council and the other day for the GIO.I was even handed. So the independent medical opinion goes back a long way.
I used to enjoy going to court especially for the THC barrister. He was every inch a "Rumpole".

medico legal
It’s not as lucrative as people might imagine. Often a good report goes to many pages.
I have seen medicolegal reports. Assessors these days need to have done a course, then follow a very rigid assessment process.

I have a colleague do it. The last one he did was 32 pages long. Payment is not by word count…

‘positive tests recorded’ is more accurate in terms of the disruption

In last 7 days:

NSW Positive cases / Total NSW Tests = NSW Positivity Rate
1491 / 566,298 = 0.26%

1/4 of a percent is not exactly anything to worry about

The positivity rate in Victoria for last 7 days is much higher because they opened up with more covid circulating in the community (although has been higher all along):

8,695 Vic cases / 402,957 tests = 2.1%

Edited to add that ACT 7 days:
62 ACT cases / 10,603 testes = 0.58%

Completely and utterly missed the point but good on you turning it into your normal state v state rant.

They’re using single lane testing
All the testing sites I’ve seen have that issue - single lane with no opportunity to bail out.

MissQS was in Wodonga in July and her battery went flat waiting for the CovidSwab. (The benefits of a stop start engine that saves the environment but adds to lead production). RACVBattery guy had to park somewhere else and walk in a battery. Luckily there was enough room either side for other cars to slide past but not reverse out

In Jindabyne the in-out time the day after the local CoomaDrugDealer became positive was 6hours. I know of one case where someone got a friend to come to sit in her car while she took friends car to go drive home so she could pee and friend edged car forward. When she came back car was in same spot.

LOL no, the fact is with such a low positivity rate there is very little disruption at all. And the close contact rules were also relaxed for those who are vaccinated, so far fewer people have to iso these days than had to in the past.

Facts are not a rant.

If people are going to worry about NSW numbers they need to keep an eye on both Vic and ACT where Covid is more active right now.

You’ve completely missed the point we were discussing (not with you) and replied with irrelevant data on another topic but keep on doing you.

This forum is for discussion of spread, positivity rate is directly related to spread and the amount of actual disruption to peoples lives occurring in NSW which is very little.

Disgusting…

Qld Health Minister press conference shut down after anti-vax interruption

Queensland Health Minister Yvette D’ath has been forced to stop a press conference in the state’s far north after being interrupted by an anti-vaccination protester.

Ms D’Ath had travelled to Cairns to visit vaccination hubs and urge residents in the region to get vaccinated to help boost jab rates in the region lagging the state average as the border opening date creeps closer.

3 local cases in Queensland.

Incursions from Covid riddled NSW!!

DEFCON 10!!!!

For once I’m actually loving the QLD Premiers alarmist language!

‘Get vaccinated. The virus will hunt you down and make you very sick and even kill you if you do not get vaccinated. Get vaccinated today’

You keep criticising members for posting on topic facts and stating you have no interest in those topics (eg who cares about case numbers, they'll go through the roof once we open etc).

If you want to have a private discussion, suggest you move it to a DM. Otherwise, anybody can contribute to the discussion, even if it's not to your liking.

Agreed so let’s all move on now.

Flashbacks to Daniel Andrews a couple of months ago saying that if you leave your house you will end up in hospital

You can motivate people without telling them lies.

Likely anybody who is actually scared of covid has already been vaxed.

There's a portion of the community now that are fundamentally opposed to the government controlling their lives, and the more pressure that is applied to get vaccinated, the more they will object to it.

Suspect the spread is bigger than the numbers are telling given the amount of asymptomatic now with the high vaccination levels…

…so perhaps the less ‘positive tests recorded’ is more accurate in terms of the disruption that you are unfortunately incurring!

So you agree with McGowan on this one :p

Not having a go at you, and I think I can detect a note of sarcasm &/or hyperbole in your post...
But just to correct a common misconception about the DefCon scale...
Rather than (as intuition would expect) becoming scarier as the number increases, it actually runs in the opposite direction, such that:
1 is the most severe (eg NuclearWar is imminent); &
5 is the most benign (eg Global peace & harmony, world population singing Kumbaya).
So in your example, perhaps the appropriate DefCon setting would be between 0 and 0.5 🙃

Thank you!

As in don’t bother testing in Perth? Nothing to see 😆

It’s Queensland we have our own rules 😂
