Australian state border restrictions

Has anyone heard if WA will shut its border to QLD when the latter lets in VIC & NSW residents in Dec? We’re due to fly from WA to QLD for Xmas. Can’t see any mention of this issue in the recent press.

Following changes made by VIC regarding NSW and ACT effective tonight.

From ABC blog:

At 11:59pm on Tuesday, October 19, there will no longer be any red zones in New South Wales.

  • All Local Government Areas in the Greater Sydney region — including Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Shellharbour and Wollongong — will become orange zones
  • All Local Government Areas in the remainder of regional New South Wales, plus Jervis Bay Territory, will move from red/orange zones to green zones
  • In addition, Broken Hill in New South Wales and Shepparton in Victoria will rejoin the New South Wales-Victoria cross-border community area
  • The ACT remains an orange zone.
These changes will come into effect at the same time as broader changes to Victoria's travel permit system announced last week, which means that after 11:59pm on Tuesday, those who have had two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and have been in the Sydney area can enter Victoria on an orange zone permit without any quarantine or testing requirements.

People who are not fully vaccinated entering on an orange zone permit must isolate on arrival, get tested within 72 hours, and stay isolated until they receive a negative result.

Those people who are currently active red zone permit holders in Victoria will be considered orange zone permit holders at 11:59pm.

Isn't this the third border change in like a week. Once some changes are made, two days later they are redundant.

This is good news as several loosenings of various border policy since last Wednesday, so hopefully Michael Gunner loosens his last Wednesday press conference.

Good to see Vic has scrapped the ridiculous testing requirement for fully vaxed interstate visitors, means I wont need to cancel my January trip.

We need Qld to do the same, I will be cancelling my late Dec trip if i need to get tested over the xmas eve, xmas day, boxing day period when Im fully vaxed and well. Its one thing to pay for testing for an international trip, absolutely unreasonable for a short domestic one.

McGowan has again confirmed that vaccinated persons from NSW and Victoria will not be allowed into WA this year even with quarantine.

Mr McGowan said the plan remained for WA to reopen to Victoria and New South Wales sometime next year, when between 80 and 90 per cent of West Australians aged 12 and over were fully vaccinated.

"I don't want to set dates that subsequently change," Mr McGowan said.

There is a distinct possibility of WA and Qld never getting to 90%, leaving any plans dependent on that milestone looking pretty silly.
Agree. I think the only thing that would push us (WA) up that high is an outbreak or (less likely) a firm opening date.

Nobody wants blood on their hands, and at the moment, I think you could still make a case that some communities still haven't had equal opportunity to access a vaccine. But the call will need to be made at some point.

And we are at 80% plus here. The slow uptake by a couple of states and their decision to keep borders closed means no travel to them for us = just not worth it.

Totally agree, do we know if queensland is going to accept the NSW health free tests or we have to pay for an expensive PCR test ?

Why is NSW still extreme risk when the rolling average has been below 500 for over a week?
