You know you are a former frequent flyer when...

Honestly what is Griselda doing? Is she on strike? First you have to make your own calls to airlines and now you have to concern yourself with petty matters like luggage. It's just not good enough. I hope you will be reprimanding her. Preferably by means of a strongly worded letter.

😜😜

you move the Qantas app off your front page and replace it with your home state's Check-in app knowing that's is the closest you get to a check-in counter.

you consider buying the cheapest one way JQ or QF fare just so you can go use the lounge for a few hours, (after 3pm of course)

...you check luggage for an international flight.

I hang my head in shame, I am on a 10 week trip with checked luggage - first time in more than a decade. :(

Desperately, although in my defence I am traveling with a Blue Yeti mic, lighting, fan and and enough cables to charge a gigafactory. o_O

You're certainly not the only one. I think it would take me a day now to sort things out if / when NZ borders reopen.

I can relate to this. I ended up checking in a suitcase full of stuff for a 2-day trip from Canberra to Brisbane last month, just in case something happened and I couldn't get home.

Probably just as well, as I still haven't been back home and am now in New Zealand.

Oh no - isn't there a deadline for doing that?
No there isn’t a deadline, at least until the child is 18. We didn’t even know that Seat Son was eligible (he was born in US whilst we were on military posting there) until we took a family trip to the states when he was 15. back then, you had to send your passport to the consulate in Sydney to get a paper visa put into the passport. The other 3 came back all fine, but Seat Son’s application was denied. We were mystified - honestly never occurred to us that he would be a US citizen! Anyway, after much stuffing around, we managed to get to Sydney with the relevant documents for him to be identified. We did strike a bit of an issue with getting US citizens to certify they knew him, but the consular officers did it ‘thank you for your service- we understand it’s not easy to meet these requirements.’

When you cling to your re-booked LH flight from LHR to BER, even though you will never be able to take the flight - just to have one live international flight!

P.S. We rebooked a no-refund flight last year as far out as we could in vain hope ..
