Discussion on Cats, Moggies and Felines in general [with Pictures]

I always said if my commbank shares got to $100, I’d sell them and buy an RS200.

We may however have to sell them and remortgage the house to pay Maxie’s vet bills, sigh.

He has been out of sorts again, not wanting to eat and no poo. Off to the vet, xray shows some blockage and possible inflammation. Operation tonight, if all is well he can come home tomorrow. If there are issues he made need a part of the bowel removed. I’m off to NZ tomorrow, fortunately I’ll only be gone a few days, the boss gets another knee done next week and I had the last of a root canal treatment this morning.
Won’t bother with a lottery ticket for a while. :)View attachment 250511View attachment 250512
Even the boss has said she may have to go back to work. :)
Daughter’s cat Oscar spent 2 days at vet last week with a blockage. it was moving slowly so no operation. He also has thickening of the intestine which she knew and so is on a special diet as this was what her previous cat FF had (and she died while we were in Antarctica). Rehydrated him and he eventually pooped but couldn't see what caused the blockage.
Good luck

I check Didi's poos in the morning when I take the litter tray outdoors. If hard she gets extra water added to her wet food, which she then slurps down. She doesn't seem to drink much otherwise.
The things we servants do................

Never passed my mind to perve on cat poo..
Ours mostly uses the garden and the tray is seldom touched.
Wish my bladder worked that well...
Didi has the choice of being indoors or outdoors, but since we are home a majority of the time she prefers to be indoors when we are, and sometimes when we are not.

However she is kept inside after dark until the next morning. Also she seems to have a habit of hanging on until the litter tray is available. I think she believes she is a lady.

At 14 she has given up her wild late nights out with the bad boys.

Which is good as the ACT is going to cat containment in all suburbs in the next year or so. Oscar and Sabi have a run outside though they come inside to use the litter trays.

Good news, we have fed him raw chicken wings to help with his teeth whilst we have had him, seems he had some bone fragments stuck in his colon which they have removed, so he will be home in an hour as the vet thinks he will recover better here. :)

Very wobbly! No cone though.

The vet always remarks that Didi's teeth and coat are so good and ask whether she has dry food. Answer is no - mainly wet food, and treats of smoked salmon and avocado, roast meat and veggies (carrots, pumpkin). Vet's eyes get bigger. She is a foodie.

However on the subject of bones, she used to have the cooked large thigh bones from a roast chicken. (I know shouldn't have cooked bones). She would crunch them up and swallow. Not so much now as we rarely have roast chicken. Now she has lamb chop bones as she gets all the meat off, but they are too big for her to crunch and swallow.

Existing registered felines though will be allowed to live out their lives as usual though without need for containment.

Maxie got out again last week, he gets so excited that he just stops and looks around, so far it’s been easy to catch him, until he wisens up I guess. :)

When we picked him up from the original owner, he put a raw chicken wing into his cage to entice him in. When we got home 45 minutes later, he had consumed the whole thing, nothing left.

Cattus (mostly…) comes a running when it is bed time.
During the summer we go out bug ( asian gecko) hunting together.. I carry him a bit for high targets and manage the spotlight and a broom.
With the light changing he is blind as a bat and I can usually manage to miss most targets but let him enjoy the fun of the chase and an occasional catch.
Sometimes he catches and eats one out in the backyard on his own…...and then throws up the bug and his dinner all over the house

He now sees me as a hunting partner rather than a jailer
So even in the dark of winter when he rocks up at bedtime we usually do a lap around the shed for a quick look just so he feels he is still in with a chance.
It's a bit of "smart human" animal physc at work but makes catching the cat a non issue.

30 minutes before this photo they were running around chasing each other like crazy, there was even growls and hisses so much that I was worried.

Then I see this. Cats right???

Thinking it was part a chicken thigh which we had also given him and not part of a wing, as it was fairly big. Obviously he wasn't taught how to chew his food properly! :)
