Came from the lock company in a sealed envelope. Opened in front of us.
It is all a bit of theatre really.

Although the builders' master key will no longer work there are still only a limited number of final key combinations for homeowners to have with this type of lock.

I wanted an increased level of security so believed it worth replacing all five exterior barrels.

Fortunately I am competent enough to do this myself so it cost only the price of keyed alike barrels.

After my house renovation, I got a locksmith to rekey both the front and back doors to the same key....and got 10 copies of the key. Total $310. Also some of my previous domestic workers eg cleaner never returned the key so I don't have to worry about that now as well!

I've stopped counting days, but have continued to move bits of furniture that I can 'tetris' into the cars. Only issue has been running over a screw and needing to then fix a puncture this afternoon, but only $25 worth of damage!

Lots of flattening of rugs ongoing...
Blue tape that painters use works very well for that. I've had had a few flattening jobs of my own in recent weeks.

I say Sam, can we have some updated pics of the house - it's been a while and havng come on the journey it would be grand to see the finished jewel!
I have been meaning to post some... the grass is finally bedded and the house is starting to feel full again... of furniture ;) but I haven't got around to hanging any art yet. I'm hoping to get a new couch delivered this week, and then I think I should be ready to show off the look :)

The wine room is a work in progress though, as I think I want to change where the shelves are already but it's a very big job to do. We also don't have an outdoor setting yet, but are looking at a custom built coffee table with a gas fire-pit in the centre.

I wanted a gas fire pit last year but because of Covid supplies from overseas were limited. Reckon there might be a lot more choice this year v

All right, without further ado, here are some photos I took today. I am having my second AFF visitors tonight, @Bundy Bear! Therefore, I was able to motivate myself to clean up a bit, allowing for nicer photos. First, some views from the outside.

We use a Netatmo floodlight camera on the pillar to watch the driveway. This integrated well with Homekit and HKSV, but thier app is also pretty good too we have found.

The gardens still have some stitching visible in the grass, but it has been down long enough that it will be well rooted. The tree in the corten steel ring is a plumeria obtusa (evergreen frangipani variety).

There are four other cameras around the perimeter of the house, front door, rear door and each side from Eufy, running through Homekit/HKSV. The back and other side of the house has grass, but I did not grab photos.

Inside, I have two cats greyhounds in the hallway. The room to the right in this image is the entertainment room, pictured below.

IMG_1566.jpeg
This room features our original TV, an LG 55" 4K display, which while great in our old house, feels a little small for this room. In a future purchase we shall upgrade to 65" probably and then place this TV in one of the guest bedrooms.

Following the hallway right the way down the 8 metre length brings you to the combined kitchen, living and dining space.

Admittedly, most of the time there are papers strewn across this island!

And from the other angle.

The pantry quickly filled up!

IMG_1569.jpeg
The dining space is directly across from the island bench, and I'll bet you're starting to notice a theme in the colour palette. The space looks great at night too, so I will hopefully remember to grab some photos this evening before/after dinner.

Finally, this is the living space, just a stones throw further from the dining table. The TV is a Samsung Frame 65" and while I'm unashamedly keen on Apple, I do believe Samsung has done an amazing job with this product.

Finally, I've made no secret of my desire to have a cellar. It is operational, but since installing I have had a re-think and will at some stage be moving the shelves and making the layout flow a little better. As you'll see below, I have two large shelves, a beverage centre that has mixers and drinking temperature whites and a Vintec for the better things that are going to lay down for a while.

The current plan is to move the Vintec to my study, move the beverage centre into the middle of the wall it is against and move the large shelving one to the left and one to the right. This will then open the room up a little more. Beyond that, I'll look at encasing the area in a small glass cuboid and adding a small wine AC to keep the space at the right temperature, without affecting the surrounding rooms. This will obviously have to happen in stages.

We are working our way into a new build ; our designer recently posted a job with dark cabinetry, yours is also quite striking…..hmmmm
