Update on VA Lounges? [BNE/SYD/MEL/PER/OOL/ADL/CBR now open]

Brisbane lounge staff are being quite rude this afternoon. No food from outside the lounge may be brought in (including small things like sushi). In the 30 minutes I was sitting near the door I witnessed 10-20 people being told to go eat elsewhere.

A bit unfair given catering here tonight is sandwiches (single flavor option of Triple Cheese & spring onion), chips, and fruit.

Thanks for sharing the photos, hoping I get a chance to go in. I haven't been inside the CL (have only seen photos too) but The Club seems more similar to the normal lounge than the CL does to the J or QP lounges.

I'm interested in checking it out too. Obviously it's missing the elegant club furniture, Luke Mangan a la carte dining, personalised service and other offerings that make this lounge a notch above a J lounge.

Oh yeah, it's the armchairs - had to check the Exec Traveller article to see what they looked like.

The person I gifted VA gold to missed out entering The Club by a few days - ironic if she got to use it and I didn't!

I guess maintenance on the regular lounge bodes well then (rather than serious consideration of shutting them down)? To me it also seems a very nice touch throwing open The Club in the meantime. I can't see QF doing that with the CL.

That’s because the CL still works as the CL and after Bain reshapes VA the CL will be busier than ever.
Although Alan Joyce would be disappointed that the investment in Chairman’s Lounge memberships for all federal parliamentarians didn’t get them a special bailout.

Only bodes well if it's not a footprint reduction in MEL. It's a fairly large space after all.

Look forward to seeing the inside of the club on Christmas Day, hopefully.

But over all, I am sure QF's CL strategy netts them significantly more than it costs... and we all end up paying higher airfares because of it!

Triple cheese and spring onion?! That’s gotta be a joke. Please say it’s a joke.

With that attitude they should be thankful they still have customers!

Predictions on when the Sydney lounge will close again? Surely we will be back to the one service a day on the triangle soon enough?

It might cost them more to close and reopen than to just keep it going on the barest of bones staffing.

How mad that these companies are completely at the behest of states randomly closing borders. Best they can do is predict when things will open again?

Sydney is 5m, the other 20m can still travel I guess which is the airlines only hope.

The federal government will have to extend the aviation sector assistance after this. They should reduce GST payments to the states to compensate the airlines.

I'd be happy enough with that I think. Will report back from MEL in a few days. But if you presumably can't even toast your own bread at the moment due to COVID fears...then I'd rather cold options than cold toast :)

Seems only cold stuff for brekky. Muffins juice cereal.

There only used to be cold options on Sunday mornings in BNE VA Mk1

Coffee muffins yoghurt and cereal only in MEL

Angels on reception were outstanding in helping out with a small problem

Also informed that stafff at this point in time do not know if temp lounge will reopen as ‘ The Club’ once main lounge refurbed

Saving money by not spending a lot (masquerading as "covid" prevention).
Don't tell me that the types/little food they have, are not saving them money.
Food not eaten can be put back into storage, esp cool ones, like the muffins.
Drinks they buy in 2 litres, and then pour into the decanters, etc.
Used to have boiled eggs, de shelled, (so, no more eggs for the time being, or for ever in there (?), small squares of ham, small sliced squares of cheese (smaller than the ones in the QP)...
