Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

With the celebratory season fastly approaching I want to keep my eye out for some reasonably priced domestic sparkling. (Not an area that I am well versed in)

I was thinking of the below as a starting point:

- A by Arras/ Arras brute elite (DM selling in a twin pack)
- Seppelt Original Shiraz

Any experience with the above or alternate? Blanc de Blancs recommendations (sub $40)?

cheers

I used to really like the Seppelt Original Sparkling Shiraz. However, since they went from vintage to NV I've stopped buying it. Quality went downhill IMHO.

From the recent Airoldi deal? Thoughts on it?
No. Can’t quite remember now but I think it as Cloudwine. $100 reduced to $39?

First bottle opened I poured away but now after 7 hr decant, very nice but very dry, typical Bordeaux drains.

Not my photo, but there is one less of the 388 bottle of this in existence after the weekend. Got to say this is probably one of the best Australian sparkling wines I have ever sampled.

Tight and driving acidity with green apple and super ripe lemon notes on opening, then mellowed in to a really toasty, shortbready pastry profile from the extended time on lees, all with peach and nectarine notes.

Thanks to Qaz for the heads up on the discount pricing, for $75 this matches anything from that small pocket in the north of France.

I met Curly from TWF (who gave this 98) yesterday, she is larger than life and an asset to their team.

Feel like a special one tonight. After trying the 09 few months ago I’m going back to the classic 08.
Only thing to worry with aged Domain A is the cork condition and luckily this one is immaculate!
Now to play the waiting game until dinner...

This PN is fantastic value for money. I’m impressed by the Estate and looking forward to try it’s big brother the 1er.

snap somewhat:

2017 pinot noir: the Hoddles was good as usual, but the spicier Rochford Terre will probably last longer - my first bottle bought after having enjoyed the Dans les Bois

2017 chardonnay: Scout > Yabby Lake

Alternative whites tasting last night. Chenin was meant to be excluded, but the organiser forgot and brought two along...

L-R:

Picpoul 2019, Fiano 2018, Pecorino 2018, Chenin 2018, Gerwurtz 2016, Rousanne 2016, Jura 2013, Godello 2013, Gerwurtz 2011, Ribolla 2008, Chenin 2003 (which was crystal-clear and as fresh as a daisy).

First time trying a Rockford Wines bottle, not sure if I quite appreciate the cult icon status.

Drinkability is definitely there and it might simply be young, but it seems fairly muted. Over time the finish seemed to lengthen, but not sure if it strikes me as a wine with a lot of complexity or big levers to hang off to age over time (i.e. not like it has huge tannins or density of fruits, etc).
