these are 15% off @ Different Drop with EOFYS until Monday, when included wines change with new selection offered:
25% cashback at Cellarmasters through Cashrewards + free shipping

Hi guys I am trying to find a special wine for my fathers 70th this year. This is not a man who is lacking in good quality wine.

Any recommendations or things outside the box - was trying to find a 1950 Para port - but that is almost impossible - with only 100 ml options for lots of money (rip-off).

was thinking maybe the Bass Philips premium Pinot Noir. has anyone had this? is it worth it?

Any other tips?

Thanks.

if he was conceived the year before, then as an alternative to 1950 armagnac, how about something from 1949:

I forgot to mention this one:

It was Syrahmi New Beginnings 2016 not the Finesse.

New Beginnings arose from Finesse

Cape Mentelle Cabernet was listed for $20/b but sadly the shelf was empty

now that is insane - do you have a photo of the price tag?

$70 @ Maison One - access via Vintec Club's Moët & Chandon virtual tasting on Wednesday 8th July

Not currently. I'll see if I can drop by again tomorrow. it was clearly labelled 'While stocks last' though
So likely to fall under clearance sale for price matching exclusion

It was 20 for couples weeks, I didn’t realise the rrp is 43.

Now I go to another liquor land , piper heidsieck rose sauvage is 20, I buy the only 5btls
They’ve been gradually reducing the price, I got it for $45 a month or so ago.

The vintage I tried at the CD ~3 years ago was very easy to drink

Does it mean too simple?

to me I won't buy this at full price, First I don't think art series Char worth that price. I haven't taste prelude char before. I will prefer Howard park, mountadam, and a lot. of course, it is very personalised choice.

tonight I grab 3 Seppelt DP63 at $5. I have to stop searching it. It is too waste of time, and not much left. in a FC, I saw Saltram No1 at 20, but it is all gone.

Asked if there were any hidden out back but no luck. Was dropped to 20 yesterday apparently and promptly all stock vanished.

Well there you go, we have the new deal of the year!

Surely the staff working there would have bought the lot.

No, didn’t mean in that way - just that I enjoyed drinking it, no sharp edges etc.
No doubt it is no where near as complex as the Art Series. At the CD price of $32 On my visit I didn’t buy any, I would have at $23-$25.
At $5 I would jump all over it.

I'd certainly have grabbed every bottle they had.

They guy working there today told me he wished he'd known they changed the price as he'd have grabbed a few. So I suspect you're right and the staff yesterday probably grabbed any that were there.

I just saw Moss Wood at FC Sylvania for $20. It was all gone. I asked the 20 yr old worker if that price was legit? He told me it was but he bought them all yesterday. Two points to make:
1. What is the point of having those prices if the employees purchase them all?
2. I told the lad that once it's gone he should remove the sticker because it will just upset people like me to see that price.

Agree! Not much a point of clearance when employees got them all.

Haha. I think the general rule is they are not supposed to purchase wines until after their shift is finished. To get around that pretty sure they don’t put the stick up prices until the following day when they have already purchased everything. Or they keep stock in the back I’m told from other staff members. Should file a complaint.

Went to FC in Perth this morning. Nothing there. $30 for penfolds commander in chief series which isn’t really a clearance price .... was bitterly disappointed with the lack of sales.

When I worked in retail it was a sackable offence to buy clearance items until a certain number of days to avoid the "what's the point if employees grab everything and sell it on ebay?" argument (Dick Smith employees of old were well renowned for it). Ways around it of course, but not a good image for the company brand.

I've been told by Dans staff that is against their policy for staff to buy clearance. At FC I've seen the staff running around during their lunch break grabbing bottles for themself... What i can't fathom is if Woolworths owns both Dan's and Langtons, why do they even do clearance? A lot of it would sell for more on Langtons surely

ie. Buying 2016 Penfolds Bin 150 for $30 at Dans yesterday, yet its selling (and getting bids) on Langtons at $70
