Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Well well, who needs your sold out VC when one can drop to yr friendly Dan's.

I asked the nice chap, 'do you price match VC' and he happily stated 'No, we dont... we price beat!'. So I took him to my selection and showed him the pics I had of my docket for the Octavius and the VC shelf label for quintets... he checked with the manager and we were all good. He did say they were crazy prices...
If only my local DM didnt know their own price match policy awell :(

ie. within 10km, and in stock

The policy also excludes clearances..
I went into my local Dan's today, showed them the photo. they got the duty manager and he said they won't match unless it's in a catalogue or online, that store clearances don't count. Which is true...

New Deal from Cheaper By The Dozen. Again, I've never purchased from this store, but the offers are getting more tempting. 15% off code WINEHERO, Free shipping, and a free mystery dozen with all orders over $100 (add the mystery pack to cart)

The After Five and Purple Hands wines are what are tempting me.

After Five Wine Co. Serata 2016 Rating 96 To 2031 CM (95 WF)
After Five Wine Co. Grenache 2016
Rating 96 To 2028 CM (95 WF)
After Five Wine Co. Shiraz 2016 Rating 95 To 2036 CM

Unfortunately the code doesn't work on their premium wines. Message is " WINEHERO discount code isn’t valid for the items in your cart "

$20 off with FRIENDLY - ends 10am AEST tomorrow - 4 Shiraz, 6 Serata, 17 Grenache left - past deals

I tried at FC same issue
Unlucky guys. I got a St Peters from another local Dan's today. I then asked if the guy would come at selling me some quintets and he said he wasn't so keen as we were strictly outside of the 10km rule and he'd get grilled. He did kindly say I could ask them to be transferred to their other store. At both places they asked if it was a clearance and I said no it was a genuine national sale, and they said all ok. The guy today mentioned that strictly the wine had to be in stock at the place they're matching, but they don't check too often. I reckon your duty manager was making it up. I mean what precisely is a clearance vs a sale, and where does the Dan's policy mention the catalogue thing?

... hmmm I just read the DM and FC policies. Both very similar. Must have hit upon the right combination of confidence, chat and luck! Sorry again guys.

Note that most VC items are on Cellar Sale not Clearance and DM managers should know the difference. I’ve seen some items that were on sale last week or the week before back on full price now so they were obviously not clearance items. It’s basically VC’s error for not differentiating between sale and clearance, luckily it’s an error that works in our favour.

Didn’t have any issues with the 10km rule so far, the lack of stock at VC is the biggest problem. Showing proof of price match from another DM doesn’t seem to help.

Yep, I went back to the one VC in Canberra yesty and there were only three Cellar Sale items left in the whole shop - a fortified Shiraz, and Chardy and a scotch. So the 'in stock today' aspect of the DM/FC policy would be the issue if they checked. This is why I go to Dans at a time of night after VC is shut!

Funny thing too that the VC sale tickets say the cellar sale runs til 30 June. A pretty lean final week coming up there...

Picked up a magnum of Pizzini Prosecco at VC yesterday for $29, pretty happy with that one (along with a few other goodies including a bottle of Champagne that very quickly evaporated).

Mine was at the DM Brighton store. They were going to ring the local VC to confirm it was in stock, but looked online and said it wasn’t on sale, regardless of whether there was a ticket in store.

Interesting business... I went to FC today and the guy said he was happy to match but said 'advertised' in their policy means online. I replied that that is a very particular reading of the word, and not the only one. Anyhoo, seems the lads at my two local Dans aren't so fussed with checking - they were happy to go off the VC shelf labels. The guy at VC yesty said this was fairly typical Dans laziness (seems this statement isn't true of all Dans...). Fun times. We live and learn!
